This program is a damn uninspired mess. I never thought i would see it get back to this point again. Wow. We are a total "tear down gut-job" at this point.

Huesman is about to be 2 years into a 5 year contract. After 3 years of a 5 year contract, don't you sort of get either extended or fired?

So what does he need to do next year to get an extension? Win about 7 games next year? What reason is there to believe that we will be any better next year than we will this year? I just do not see it.

Lastly, i have my next contribution toward the locker room and weight room due prior to the end of the year. If we do not show any life in these last two games, i am sitting out on my contribution this year.

Mo, believe I said he is not a good coach. Sadly, for once believe I was right.

i hope i am wrong but i dont see 7 wins next year , i know its not gonna happen , but after a year like this , there are alot places the whole staff would be gone at the end of the season, he needs to least shake the staff up a bit , cause what they are doing is not working, i am by no means an insider, but you get the feeling, this staff has lost this team am i wrong?

I don't see 7 wins next year or any year with the current staff. Absolutely zero improvement since the first game, after an off week the team was worse. Compare UD with Rocco, for an example of improvement.

Well when KJ threw 2 straight interceptions I did not blame him for change. Chennault did not look too bad, but what is wrong with Mancuso?

I really think the admin is (secretly) considering a de-emphasis in football. I hope I'm wrong! Ijust have a "feeling."

I have defended Russ, Inc multiple times on this forum, but what I saw today was flat out disgraceful. Today's performance was worse than the JMU & UVa games combined, and I'm trying to remember if we played this sh*tty with Lineburg in the 0-fer conf season. For whatever reason, this team has quit, zero chemistry...and where's the leadership?

I'm starting to become a little troubled by his halftime and post game interviews. In every single one he mentions not playing well, not doing this, not doing that, out coached, out played, not prepared, angry, frustrated, yadi yada. It's something different everytime.

Look at our depth chart. We're losing a bunch, and unless the Fr light up the world I only see 3 wins next season.

I still support Russ but it's time to start making some moves in the lineup or the coaching staff. I'm giving him 14 more games; otherwise, Mo's OR ginal post is spot on.

I am not a Durden fan and his play selection has been so so.
I said after the JMU game that Huesman was the problem and lots of folks on this board got pissed. The tell was going 6-5 with Lauletta the year before and then thinking you could do better without him. You’ve got talent; you don’t have anybody coaching them up.

Hmm. Mo, sounds like time to change your avatar.

Putting reasons, excuses, etc. aside, fact is we're getting worse as the season winds down. We can't really compete now in a conference we've contended for in previous years.

Huesman currently has the 9th best fcs recruiting class. He’s bringing in talent. We have to give Huesman at least 4 years. I want to see Huesman change his staff up this offseason. Our playing calling has been pretty darn bad.

I’m in agreement with Mo. What have we seen in 2 years now to think that whatever we’re attempting to run on O,D and specials is going to be successful in this conference?

In first year we went 6-5 and were in most games - 1 or 2 plays away from the playoffs. So changes from year 1 to year 2 werent going to be a lot because it seemed they were learning and understanding system.

But I think getting blown out most of year 2 will cause Russ to rethink all schemes. If Durden isnt gone at least we've got problems. What would be most concerning is no staff changes and keeping the same scheme

am i wrong too , that coach russ has kind of quick trigger when a kid makes a make mistake?
Quick trigger???? we have two QBs that are absolutely killing us. 7 turnovers, two pick 6. How patient are you going to be???

Neither KJ or JM can read or go through progressions, they throw into coverage, they can't throw a touch pass. Start Chennault.

Against a 3-5 team that had been shut out the last two games, at home on homecoming, 5 consecutive plays resulted in 3 interceptions and a lost fumble. We looked like a DIII school playing Alabama.

Draw your own conclusions; I've made up my mind.

The reality is what you suggest is exactly what will happen. The problem is that we have all seen this movie before. The "Just wait until the recruits get in here and contribute" movie. It doesnt end well.

In college football, you need to get things going in the first 2 years. If that doesnt happen, it is a real uphill battle.

I think a unique case with Huesman and something we have to take into consideration is the fact that there are still former Rocco players on the team who may not have bought into Huesman’s system. As the years go on, those players will graduate and we’ll have a roster of players who all want to play for Huesman and buy into his system. Huesman can only do so much if the players hearts aren’t into it.

If Huesman fires some of his staff, continues to bring in top talent, and adjusts his defensive scheme, I’ll take those as positive signs moving forward. Losing is not fun. Not making the correct adjustments to improve is even worse. Let’s see what Huesman does this off season

Actaully, yes he can. He can get them to buy in or he can cut them. Its pretty much the definition of leadership.

Good point. As head coach, Huesman needs to be a motivator and set the standard of a winning culture. Success all starts with him. I guess it’ll make this off season even more interesting. Are you in favor of bringing in more FBS transfers?

There were still a lot of Clawson players on the team when London came in – in fact, just about all of them – and he did ok.

London kept the entire staff and didn't change a thing. The smartest thing he did while head coach. He did a great job of motivating and mismanaging the clock.

its true but those are the guys we have , is it not the coaches job to make them better? the scary thing is this happened after a bye when they had 2 weeks to get ready ,

Mancuso has shaky throwing form (ball sails) and makes bad targeting decisions. Both correctable problems most young QBs all have. The question really is what’s wrong with the QB coach?

Now I don't like the all run GA Tech system, but Paul Johnson made an interesting
statement when asked about balance. He said he preferred to be able to do one thing
really, really well. Cannot argue that if you look at Ga Techs last two games and they have
improved as the season progressed. We don't do one thing really, really well, not even well. Teams know Tech was going to run and they still had difficult time stopping them.

isn't he a red shirt soph? at what point in time are these 'improvements' going to happen? KJ a redshirt Junior and has similar problems.

This team is in shambles at this point. Hard to watch and not acceptable. That being said, we are in the right in the middle of a culture change. I attribute this to Rocco's coaching philosophy that is entrenched in our upperclassmen's minds that it was them against the world with no loyalty to the university but only to him. Once he left throwing shots at the program, the players more than likely felt abandoned. Tough challenge for a new staff. Remember what Huesman said about the bye week that reps went to younger players. Many of those players did not suit up yesterday as the entire class is being redshirted so all we saw were mostly players on their way out with little to play for but PRIDE. Let's hope the next two weeks this team decides to show up and play with some Spider Pride or it could be ugly. The future will bring better results but the present cannot be acceptable to anyone including players, coaches, administrators or fans/donors. We have some warriors on this team that have experienced success. Hopefully the mark they will leave with the underclassmen is this is not an acceptable standard of play for Ricmond Football.

7 turnovers would kill any team. No defense can stop the bleeding when your an throws it to the other team. There will be changes I hope for next year. I see some guys leaving the program because of their relationship with the hc

Dave's recruits made London's job much easier.

Look at London's track record since then. What does it tell you? And W&M is considering him to replace Jimmy L. Wow.

Reds1, head coaching changes happen all the time. How many times do you hear about the existing players being so upset that they stop playing hard? I would hope that most of our kids are smart enough to realize that after a couple of years they will never put the pads on again. If you love playing football, why give that up because you don't like the new guy? I personally believe that if Huesman had done a "London" when he came in and not changed EVERYTHING, last year's team could have gone a long way. And I was upset about Rocco leaving and the way the administration was handling everything. But that's life. In my life I've had good supervisors leave or transferred and found myself working for an asshole. But I didn't quit my job, because I loved what I was doing.

Who quit? Clyde? Matthews? Wilkins? Bevels? Drake? Collins? Trau? Norris? Palmer? Keels? Jacob? Roberson? Brissett? Rubin? Yarborough? Caughell? Williams? Geraghty? Ejoni? Thompson?

I think not— the red shirts would have walked away. Why don’t you, and all those who think that this team has quit, go introduce yourselves to all these players, plus any whose names I may have forgotten, and then call them quitters to their face. Nobody likes losing — players, coaches, and fans.
