2018-2019 Starting Lineup

6'5" 210. solid but that's small for a PF in the A10.

we ran out a small lineup last year where Buck was arguably the PF defensively. he was listed at 6'4" 215. we saw how that worked out.

Buck held his own and was one of our leading rebounders?

So he is not an NFL TE? ;)

wasn't bashing Buck. loved watching the guy ball. by "we saw how that worked out", I meant 12-20. It doesn't work playing 6'4"ish guys at the big forward spot unless they're Charles Barkley.

Who’s the fourth?
Sorry. You are right. If I were following the roster closely I'd have realized my error in not realizing Khwan was gone. Bummer. Now there are 3 and 12 and 7 gone that will likely take 3 guys to replace. Hope a couple of these young guys can step up and fill number 4 and there's a guy playing D that can go 5. Unless there is a substantial change in D, there's not much hope. I've lived that pain. That's how it is. It's all about the D now. It can be taught if the young guys are committed to it.

Noah certainly seems to be our "mystery man" so far. I have only seen him on the court in a scrimmage-type situation for a few minutes and not long enough to come away with any evaluation. Plus, he was not 100% at the time.

Word on the street is that Noah was one of our strongest outside shooters over the past 4-8 weeks or so. If that is true then we will be even stronger from outside than we saw in the exhibition. If Noah can play respectable defense inside, like Buck did, and play like a former tight-end, then we may also go 3-deep (Nate, Sal, Noah) at the 4 position. I would not expect Noah to get many minutes at the 2, since I believe that Woj and Dre have that position locked down.

Noah will get PT if he can beat out Sal at the "4" spot or if he can beat out JJ at the "3." Depending on how he compares with Sal, it might also allow Sal to think about the benefits of a red-shirt.

You didnt realize Khwan was gone and yet you claim to be "more than a casual observer" AND you want some of the drugs I'M taking!?

All of you that are surprised, do realize SpiderDaMan is a VCU poster right?
Even if mostly a benign one here, and sometime more trouble when on their board.
He might make more sense to you through that filter...

Nice Mite. I make a mistaken post and all pile on. Enjoy the fun. I mostly post decent thoughts here. i sometimes get baited by the ones who enjoy doing that. It's what they do. I then chill rather than continue it ad infinitum. You're welcome on our board always. If you think I'm not liked over there, well, I can't help you with that.

Also, I never pretended about my VCU affiliation. Everyone here knows it, but I am interested in the UR squad/progression. Much like my fascination with SLU's transformation. They're on the way up and should be really good this year. It goes in cycles as we all know. Some cycles are longer than others.

I suggest you talk about basketball. Spending precious board space on bashing another poster is a waste.

I’m not sure you got the point of my post. But I’m sure that is true about most people and most of my posts.

The first line was out of my irritation with those who ignore your affiliation and interact as if you are hiding it.

The second line was an attempt to say I haven’t seen any indication that you are here to irritate people intentionally.

Which reminded me that you occasionally irritate your own board (Mudkat? ODU football?)

As to basketball, should I mention our 74% from 2 or 22 assists/10 TO in the exhibition game?

Or Maybe the line of our freshman SG? 2 assists, 2 steals, 2 blocks, 6 rebounds, 3-9 from 3...

It was a non D1 exhibition, but those stats look more promising than the alternative.

Yep, thanks. It's easy to misunderstand posts. Yes, my crazy little brother is the Mudkat and yes, I got into some stupid stuff in that thread and on occasion howl at the moon, but I found the ignore button and all was good in the world.

I saw the box score. You guys seem to have been considerably more efficient than ours in our first run which is good. Both squads appear to have promising young guys coming in and they both need them. Sure hope the top half of the A10 awaits and expectations are exceeded. .

From observations of posters and short vid from HampSyd game, appears Mooney at least has enough new players to play 8/9/10 who can hold their own with D1 competiton.

I think the evidence is we have 8/9/10 who can hold their own against D3 competition. I don’t think we have enough evidence against D1. Will be interesting to see how deep we go over the first 5 games.

bath house lol. The profile pic looks like him realizing holy smokes I'm in a bath house!
Actually I was sitting at the swim up bar. Pretty cool place to hang out while smoking a Cuban. You guys need to get a little more creative with the avatars. Hang out. Have some fun. Go way out on that limb. I live in Jersey where many of you come from and that's pretty much all we got up here when we can afford to eat. Just be happy you aren't here if you've been lucky enough to get out of here.

Ok not really sure what you're talking about. You got a lot of bath houses and that's where you also go to eat? Definitely staying out of Jersey, thanks.

LOL...just stay out of Jersey. Once in they tax you to leave. And they charge you $1 at the border just to make your escape and get out.

That dude in the picture is the dude that realized that there was only one day left in Jamaica before having to fly back to Newark.

Agree with Spiderman that Woj will be our 4th legitimate (and probable) double-digit scorer this season. And, our top 4 scorers could easily take turns regarding who scores the most.

I can see Woj being our top scorer in games that require lots of outside shooting, and HOPE that Grant will be our top scorer in games against weaker competition where he can dominate, physically, inside. I would like to see Grant be fed the ball inside on every UR possession this season, and would like for him to NOT take the shot only when he is double-teamed. Give him the ball within 3-6 feet of the basket and he should be an above 50% shooter.

Since I expect to see a lot of teams game-plan to double-team Grant when he touches it, I would also love to see him lead the team in assists, by passing it out of double teams QUICKLY, to avoid turnovers.

If we do have 4 legitimate double-digit scorers, we will be tough to defend. Teams will not be able to back-off from any of our guys at the 3-point line like they often did with Khwan (and sometimes Buck) last season. Anybody who backs-off of Nick, Woj, or Jacob will pay, and obviously Grant can also hit from 3.

I think alwasy the need for Sherod and Wojcik to be opposite sides when entry pass to pivot

I like the way Oldie and Fezz think.

Fezz, I wonder if Grant can watch some tapes of TJ on baseline out of bounds play and try to replicate?

I think Oldie is picturing a facsimile our 2010 NCAA opponent, with Grant playing the Omar Samhan role and Woj being Dellavedova.

+1 Spider23. Spot on! If we have guys who can play like Samhan and Dellavedova, and I believe that Grant and Woj can do exactly that, we should be tough to stop.

Alot if those out of bounds plays were run specifically for TJ his junior and senior year. When CM starts to run them for GG i imaginr he'll score off of them...
