at this point in time, March 31st, vcu's new coach has been on the job for about a day and barely has enough bodies on the team to even put a team on the court.
The question -- do they still beat us next season?
So my concern (out of about 12 for next season) is where is the scoring going to come from? What players will be able to step up? Tyler should be gone (if not he's scared of moving on, nothing left to do at Richmond)
I'm not sure I see it and offense could be a huge problem...
Or maybe the expectation is that this team will be predicted to finish at the bottom of the A10?

Apparently our neighbors up north have similar issues to us. Unsurprisingly, George Mason is just about as mediocre as we are. Bottom line, if University leadership is not constantly pushing athletics to be better and the best, you are going to fall behind your peers, who leadership is pushing that.
Consolidating earlier individual player threads since we have at least 4 former Spiders still playing D1 ball. SFspidur may remind us of a one or two others I have missed.
Opening night Monday 11/7:
Andre Weir - Starting center for FGSU ; 19 min, 8 pts, 6 reb as FGCU throttled USC 76-61.
Jake Wojcik - Started but rough opening game. 22 min , 2 pts. Fairfield lost to Wake 71-59.
Sal Kouressi - Came off the bench. 14 mnutes, 5 pts and yes 3 fouls. Radford lost to Marquette 79-69.
Isaiah Wilson - Started - 20 minutes - 5 points. Winthrop clobbered by Penn State 93-68.
* Matt Reed - Watched future team Tulsa lose to Oregon State that went 3-28 last year. (probably a bit harsh but really Matt, you chose UR over Tulsa and then decided to divorce us and tie the knot with Tulsa ?)
My generation was affected greatly by the Vietnam War. Many of us were either drafted into military service or joined the military to have a choice in which branch we would serve. Thanks to all veterans who served in Vietnam or during the Vietnam Era. Some paid the ultimate sacrifice. Fifty years ago on March 29th, 1973 our last troops were withdrawn from Vietnam.
off topic but we should be talking to Leo O'Boyle of Lafayette. nice player.
1,000 pt scorer. 41% from 3 on heavy volume this season. hearing from VCU, Loyola Chicago and others.
With Beard being let go at UT because of his off the court issues, Rodney Terry has taken over as Interim Head Coach at Texas and some publications out there say he has a shot to become head coach depending on how season ends. Some might not remember but he was an assistant coach at UR for about 2 weeks, but apparently HR didn't like something on his resume that was not accurate and told him to leave, so he went on to be assistant at UT after UR and then took other jobs along the way and is now head coach for the #6 ranked team in the country. I guess admissions is not the only tough spot at UR.
Just happy the season is coming to an end. This has been a terrible season and I’m happy it’s just coming to an end. Nothing good from this season stands out, just a couple of close losses and that’s pretty much it. Definitely one of our worst seasons in a while. We need to move to the Big South
Had the last 5 minutes not happened and we all felt relatively great tonight at 3-1, where does Tyler’s brilliant game today against a very solid team rank in terms of personal contribution in Spider history post the Tarrant years? No question in my mind that the only way we make the tourney is that all of our post grad seniors realize Tyler holds the torch now.
Like Swartz, Harris got a mention in the general recruiting thread a couple of weeks ago when we reached out on the first day of 2024 recruiting, and now we've offered him. 6'4" SG out of Salisbury, NC. Has already picked up a number of significant offers including NC State, Illinois, Houston, Texas A&M, Tennessee, and VCU. Looks like Gipe taking the lead yet again.
Let's take our minds off team's performance today/entire season. Might have to tune in hoping Kevin McG and Campbell go dancing. Upsetting higher seeds so far but tomorrow's game appears to be the hardest to attain.
Just saw they are the Fighting Camels ..... plenty of them around Buies Creek. Enrollment greater than town's population.
Small Canadian league with a team starting up this season in Montreal...20-game season and it looks like players only get ~$700 per game they appear in, but it's something.
The Iranian regime is now poisoning young school girls by releasing poison gas into all girls schools. There have been about 50 episodes throughout the country. The attacks are deadly and ongoing. The ISW thinks this is a means to suppress dissent among girls and women, who have been protesting the murder of Masha Amini by police. Ms. Amini was arrested, tortured and murdered by police for not wearing a hajib.. She was 22.
Social media posts show men actively taking steps to release poison gas into schools. School cameras which are ubiquitous in Iranian schools have been erased. This is disgusting.
That regime is allowing (or supporting) this to occur is disgusting. We should be actively undermining this regime. And where is Joe Biden?
The Iranian regime has apparently failed to take measures to protect schools following 46 separate reports of chemical poisonings targeting schoolgirls throughout the country on March 1. Social media users documented additional attacks on a girls’ s
Russia took down a drone by ramming it. Here is the footage. What should this country do? Russia attacked and downed a US drone over international air space. They attacked it for 19 minutes, before finally ramming it with MIG 29's. With other administrations, stronger leaders I might add, the US would respond in kind, by shooting down one of their drones.
