I totally agree it was stupid and if I were the coach - he would be severely punished internally (sprints, etc).

But I am the belief a game never comes to one play. Just like if that technical wasn't called and we won the game - I wouldn't say that block won the game for us.

Was that block and technical a big play, no - it was huge. Without the technical - we have the momentum going, lets say Marist inbounds and misses, we rebound and go down and score - the momentum is in our favor. But instead - we get a huge block, and then give away 2 points. So yes - terrible and stupid play, but had it not happened and we won the game - it would just masked bigger issues - like our inability to score against Marist for 5 minutes in the crucial part of the 2nd half, or our poor production overall from the center position, or our defense or lack there of allowing Marist to go 50% from deep.

Just one game - so they can comeback from this and I expect they will. I still stand by my prediction of UR going 11-2 in the OOC with them beating Auburn, but losing 2 other games. This is one of them.
I was at the game. What worries me the most is the offense. Yeah, I know Marist (5 and 24) were hot from 3- I give them credit. Those 2 guys were the best shooters in the game. But our offense- from late first half and all second half- looked unorganized, unfocused- no one wanted to take a shot. We had two big men who were never posted low. It's early, and I hope Mooney finds a solid starting 5 and sticks with them at some point with reasonable subs.

You are the epitome of optimism. I hope Mooney and company delivers for you. I'll hang up and watch.

We don't know if it lost the game or not. No one said it definitely did, but you can't say it definitely didn't. They made both technical free throws. We cut it to 73-70 with 33 seconds left which could have been 71-70. But, the bottom line is it was an incredibly stupid play. There is no BUT about it, and no BUT that should follow that statement. It was an incredibly stupid play that should never be repeated again.

The Trump Administration

Considering that he hired "all the best people" to drain the swamp last time, and then 92% of them left, were fired or ended up in jail, I guess we can only deduce that everyone he's hiring this time is probably a loser or a sucker.

Lol. Suckers maybe but if he was hiring losers he would be hiring Democrats.

Tanner gives me Tyler Burton vibes on the defensive end. I don't think it's a lack of effort, I think he is not quick laterally, and not diligent enough in staying low and really concentrating on sliding and staying in front of his guy. He doesn't take it personally, like Dji and Tyler Harris and Bigelow did.

Really like the upside on the offensive end, but it's noticeable that we are worse on the defensive end when he's out there. And him and Dusan combining for 4 total rebounds is not gonna get it done. They have to do more defensively.
Based on just the 2 games I have seen, I agree with your assessment Kneepad. Hopefully it will get better, but you can't teach lateral quickness.

TY. +/- via live stats on PC is only place I've seen it too. i didn't realize u were still getting it there. That link will now self destruct as soon as Richmond bball staffers read this thread lol. maybe we should delete this instead! Interesting anlaytics there too. It rates Tanner and Graham (only 2 mins played) as worst defenders. Their stop %, the rate of defensive possessions where the opposing team did not score, were both 0.

The only thing I'll call garbage is this post of yours. Show me any post where I have called anyone garbage, much less any of the military who I respect and admire. You won't find one. Keep on lying, dude.

I agree. And lets be honest - that technical didn't lose the game for UR. It didn't help, but you could easily argue the game shouldn't have been that close to begin with. And even without that technical - Marist is taking the ball out of bounds under the hoop with 3 seconds on the shot clock. Maybe they score, maybe they don't. Not to mention - after shooting the technical free throws, they immediatley took a quick shot cause I don't think they knew the shot clock reset. So while it hurt us for sure, to hang the loss on one play like this - especially an emotional play is silly.

Thank you for this well written post, I would hope every American feels the same way. But I have to ask you: You are a Republican and obviously voted for Trump. How can you reconcile "The cost of Freedom is high but Americans have willingly paid the price to keep our country free" with the fact that Trump called those who died fighting for our country "suckers and losers" and asked "What was in it for them?". Do you think Trump didn't say these things or are you just willing to overlook what he has said due to other issues?

Lastly AP technical. Yes, it was terrible timing and you can't do it at that point in the game. BUT, I love the emotion he showed not just on the play but other plays. It was cocky, it was demonstrative, it was emotive love that. He just need to be a tad bit more discretionary in how he employs it. Every team needs a guy who plays with an edge and maybe AP is that guy for us.

I hope Mooney's doesn't go overboard with how disappointed he was in the play that he tames that spirit. His comments in post game were really blunt, way more blunt than Mooney ever is in talking about a player performance.
