that made me laugh actually.

agree on 23's comment above. last year, the UR defense could switch all screens not involving Neal and Bigelow/Dji could pick up the guards no problem. This year, it's two small guards flanked by wings/forwards who appear to all be sub-par defenders, and when Beagle is in, a big who isn't good on defense either. Tonight it led to nonstop breakdowns, open shots, 2nd chance points and getting trolled by Rothstein.

Last year appears like the aberration. Extend Moon (retroactive to last year's success, which will be cited for 4+ more years.)

everything about the "bad" mooney teams all wrapped up in one game. The single worst thing about this is how little impact last year seems to have had on Moon and his philosophy. We were an "anti-moon" team year. Defensively oriented, not totally three dependent at all, actually rebounded (at least defensively) etc. and surprised everyone. Looking at this team, its like that never happened. We can't keep anyone in front of us and our help and recover and flying dutchmen kicks in.

Don't love that at the first sign of trouble we turn to 3 point shooters who dont offer much else and, as it turns out, don't actually shoot the three all that great either
Exactly. Last year was apparently the result of accidentally recruiting tough athletic defenders. Bigs was basically a perimeter shooter at Wofford. And the player from WCU was a last last second pick up. Boydens emphasis on defense has not been put on the backbone, but thrown entirely out of the kitchen.

6m left first half - 37-28 Spiders
5m left second half - 67-59 Marist

Outscored 39-22 over 21 minutes of play throughout the middle of the game. By Marist. Who just lost to Harvard by 13.

I'd say that I can't wrap my head around it, but of course I can because we have a leafy campus and a coach-for-life who wins at a 55% clip. Nothing will ever change. I don't know why I expect it.

My expectations are clarly the issue with my enjoyment of the program.

Also, to get on the players a bit - the defense by the guards and most egregiously, the wings, was an absolute horror show. And Beagle was brutal too, couldn't handle a switch the entire game. Marist did whatever they wanted and had free looks from 3 all game, then just got all the offensive rebounds they needed when they missed.

Can't state enough what a clownshow it is to start 0-1 vs D1 with this OOC schedule.

Clown.

Show.

I know this is our 2nd home game but this feels like a typical Mooney loss or bad game to start the season.

Mooney. Zero adjustments, zero idea of his best lineups. Maybe he was too busy finalizing the schedule until last Friday.

Never started shooting 3s down 5 inside the last minute of play. You can't be down 5 and take only 2s while the other team makes all their FTs. I guess Moon wasn't a math major.

What a disappointment. What a joke.

0-1 vs D1.

OOC Grade - F. Will stay this way unless the next 12 games are wins.
