I don't blame him for disappearing. He gets relentlessly attacked on here. I appreciated the information he would give us. Just because you are a positive supporter of the program shouldn’t mean you have to deal with so much crap every time you post.
We are all positive supporters of the program, and some of us are season ticket holders. We wouldn’t be here if we weren’t so to speak. However that doesn’t mean we suppress reality. It also doesn’t mean one has to be a Mooney and Hardt sycophant.

That is a good idea in theory, but in practice not so much. Reason being - if you put in escalation for a player staying, then you likely need to have a buyout in there if a player leaves early - and frankly, I don't see any player agreeing to that. They want the flexibility to leave at any moment. Plus - not sure schools like us or even the big schools, want to lock in to longer term deals - in case the player underperforms, they can get out of it pretty quickly.

This idea has been floated by some coaches, but it really only works when and if the schools are able to pay the players directly themselves. Then I could see schools coming to agreements longer than 1 year with players, sort of like player contracts. This would limit the amount of transfers to an extent - not to say the school can't get out the contract or the player can't get out - but I would think maybe 2 year, maybe 3 year contracts would be normal. With clauses on how to exit the contract if needed by both sides.
personally I'm guessing NIL are all one year deals, paid in installments throughout the year. there's no reason to commit to a longer term, by either party. just like scholarships are all officially one year deals.

Truth Admitted in Duke Lacrosse False Rape Case

National media has not devoted nearly as much attention to the admittance by the accuser that she lied about being raped by Duke lacrosse players as was devoted to the accusation when it was made in 2006. One can only speculate as to what drives the national media..... Three lacrosse players and the coach had their lives drastically changed by false accusations. The City of Durham and Duke University paid a price for their willingness to believe the initial accusation.

Bang there it is. When the Tyne story was posted here I figured that was from today not yesterday.

JOC had this teed up when it was his postgame presser question on Sat. Fantastic reason to not ask Moon about Walz comments.

Philly Bob has described the Brian Earl one as the “million dollar” question.

OT: Woj bomb!

It was clearly stated that SBU must be doing a great job of marketing the university to the general public because it had an add on the ribbon board at Highmark Stadium during a Bills game. There was no mention of the athletic department.

Our record number of applications would indicate to me we are marketing the university correctly, and to a receptive student demographic.

Secret Scrimmage vs ECU 90-90

Maybe needs it own thread - but what has gone wrong this year. I will admit - I had some excitement about this team entering the season. I thought we had a decent core coming back led by DLO, and then support by Roche, Tyne, and Walz. And I thought the addition of GW3, Neskovic, Beagle, and Apostolos - would produce at least 1 if not 2 high impact producers to support DLO. But it just had not happened. We have not seen GW3 and Apostolos, coming from UCONN, has not lived up to expectations I had. But this is a gamble in taking transfers, especially at the higher level - who may not have played - but were well touted/recruited out of HS - they might not live up to that original rating or expectation. Just seems like to me we may have struck out on all of them at the same time. And struck out might be too harsh - Beagle and Neskovic are okay, but we needed more than okay from the portal this year to keep up - and just seems we are not getting it as of now.

So, one to JMU, one to Wisconsin, and another with a VT offer. Perhaps not Patriot League decision but maybe they are just FBS players.
No no no, it's all about the Patriot League! Don't even try to change the narrative.

Even though it appears our recruiting did not suffer this year, and that we will probably flourish in that league, and even though the PL is the best academic/enrollment/philosophical fit for our football program and we have no evidence yet of what a season in the PL will entail, it was a bad, bad, bad decision.

About Luigi Mangione, person of interest

No. 2 is not conjecture. Our local hospital group finally refused to take UHC insurance because they would not pay their bills. They did not turn away patients obviously but would not honor UHC insurance.

UHC did just buy a local clinic unaffiliated with the hospital. Staffers immediately fled because no one wanted to work for them. They are a horrible company.

I do have an excellent secondary insurance. However, they just denied a test that my doc said Medicare would have approved with no problem.

Mooney recently shared a desire to have NIL packages that are structured to reward staying at Richmond for multiple years, so I assume we are doing something like that for any of our incoming freshman/multi-year transfers. Assuming it's a built in YoY increase or bonus structure that fulfills as long as the player remains with the team.

Last year vs this year stats

looking for answers and I see some interesting things.

1) we're shooting slightly better from 2 this year ... but taking only 30 shots from 2 per game vs 37 from 2 last year. where are those 7 shots going? well ...

2) we're taking more than 5 more shots per game from 3 this year, and not making them. we made 7.3 threes per game last year ... 7.4 this year. percentagewise, we made 36.2% last year vs an astounding 28.9% this year (which ranks #340). and to repeat ... we take more. smh

3) assists are down 19% ... because we can't shoot.

4) turnovers are up 27%. fouls are up 27%. yikes.

5) our offensive rebounds per game are up, but still awful. our defensive rebounds per game are up, and very strong (#23 in the country).

defensively, opponents take and make too many 3's. and they take and make too many foul shots. but the overall defensive numbers aren't as drastic as the change in our 3 point shooting. tough to win games when you're 340th in 3 point percentage when almost half of your shots are from 3.

Roche - 49% from 3. keep firing.
DeLo - taking 3 times as many 2's as 3's. good job
Dusan - 67% driving from 2, vs 24% from 3 ... but taking many more 3's than 2's. drive!
AP - 49 threes and only 16 twos??? let's go. attack the rim.

It's all a crapshoot. Mooney can say this all he wants, but if uncorked Jrob this season, and let's say he looked really really good. And we said he was going to get a $20K loyalty bump for next season. Bruce Pearl could come in with $180K and blow him out of the water.

Heck I remember seeing Dutcher and SDSU NIL folks talking about every player gets a couple grand per month. Well when Kentucky comes in and gives your starting PG a million, you may have to adjust. And now I see they have some crazy budget that leads the MW.

Again, not just Mooney here - but he has these grandiose 1970's plans that don't really work in reality. In reality you have to fight and claw and be in it 24/7 every season to put a good roster on the floor. I don't think Mooney has that in him now, and that is why we have these redshirts and another developmental year next year when the true freshman join them.

Good question. I don't know. It is noted that the one poster who claimed to have connections with the NIL, UR80's, has disappeared once the season started. One would hope that means there is some soul searching going on, but somehow I doubt that. The few people I know who contribute to the NIL are unabashed Mooney guys, but there are a lot of names I don't know, so perhaps some of them actually want the money they are investing to lead to really good outcomes and I would assume fun and enjoyment for them as a fans/investors in the team. I wonder how much enjoyment any of them are getting out of this year?

thinking about how NIL works, I wonder ... does a player's number change every year?
I'd think it must. say a freshman getting $50k has a great season. I assume the coach or NIL guy approaches him and tells him we're going to give you a increase, right? otherwise he would likely leave if the market deems he's worth substantially more.

on the other hand, say we gave a $100k or more NIL package to a transfer who doesn't do much. I assume we're not obligated to renew that amount?
Mooney recently shared a desire to have NIL packages that are structured to reward staying at Richmond for multiple years, so I assume we are doing something like that for any of our incoming freshman/multi-year transfers.
