NCAAB Betting 24-25

I think several of us, myself included, keep convincing ourselves THIS will be the week we wake up..THIS will be the game that we break out. VMI and FGCU to round out the non-con at home. Do we go 1-1 or 0-2? Not even going to entertain 2-0.
I worry for you guys. I don't understand why you don't see what some of us see. This team is bad. The coach is mediocre. The administration is suspect. It won't change no matter how much you wish it to change unless something drastic changes with the coach and administration. It just won't. We subscribe to the blind squirrel nut theory. And we find a nut just often enough to keep this shitshow rolling.

Non-Conference Road Games

Playing close on the road means nothing. Winning is the objective. This administration constantly lets Mooney schedule weak out of conference teams and we still can't win games. Sitting here now watching GM play Duke after they just beat Tulane and we have to play D2_schools because we can't get anyone to play us. Its a joke at this point. Either go in another direction with the program or move to a lower conference and be happy competing at that level.
They only move to lower conferences for the teams that succeed at the level they are at.
WBB will be DII if they keep it up.

Net is currently at 273. This is incomprehensible for an A-10 program that is funded like us. 2-4 against Q4. We have already lost to 3 teams with NET's lower than 240.

One thing that did make me smile is the VCU has zero Quad 1 or Quad 2 wins and a Quad 3 loss and their only OOC remaining is William and Mary Good luck getting an at large with that OOC resume.

counting out vcu. that has always worked on here lol.

I fully expect VCU to be right in the mix for at large. And if not, they'll perform in A10 tourney & be most likely to win that.

I agree with u that their OOC resume has nothing. and OOC is the more important. Miami and CSU solid wins some years not now. But remarkably their metrics r quite good considering weakness of OOC. Look at Kenpom Torvik BPI NET. Pretty high in some considering & i think 2nd in a10 in all except Net (Bona).

But they get Dayton twice they always get Dayton twice and have the best A10 schedules. They actually have 8 q1/q2 games in A10 as result. Have some on road which helps. Bona twice. Now final # of q1 or 2 will be less I bet. Skeptical Bona and URI will keep it up idk.

And what VCU never does is lose bad games. so that just lowers our roughly 10% chance to just win 1 game this year off VCU. 10% this year is probably generous.

Even our SRS is currently lower than any season-ending number since 1977–78 when we went 4–22 in Slone's final year. (And two of those wins were non-DI that year as well...Atlantic Christian and Randolph–Macon.)
Uh oh. A certain UR80's fan must be going through some things right now. Would love some inside scoop from him and how excited our NIL guys are about all of these developments.

Exactly 8legs, we have been having these conversations for years.

Heck, I bet petition guy could hit the petition button again very easily. That seemed to spark the troops last time, but doubt that would have the impact this time.
I'm down for any and all ideas/options at this point. I don't see this team making some late magic run to rescue the Moonman this year. Got to keep the pressure on the regime if we ever expect change. Probably won't work this year, but doesn't mean we can't make them sweat a little bit.

we all thought we landed 5 impact guys. it hasn't worked so far but it's not all on them.
Dusan shows signs, though I think we saw that he wouldn't be a lock down defender. but he can score.
AP has been slow coming around. if we were impatient we'd give up on him and go another way ... maybe even the redshirts. but I think we're being smart here. he's better than he's shown. 5-5 from 3 last night is no joke. and he rebounds.
Beagle is a really good big man. I'd love to see him as a big 4 next to Walz. I think he'd be a handful.
and I guess we're waiting on B Artis. guess he can't get healthy.

we went after some highly thought of guys. I was excited about the Manon kid that chose Vanderbilt. we'd probably have had to double our NIL offer to get him. and he's averaging 5 ppg at Vandy. there are no guarantees.

We got no impact players from the portal. If we spent NIL on all 5, we would have been better off spending big on 1 or 2 impact guys, and then just filling out the roster with fits.
That is an interesting point and something I have thought of too. Would you rather try and spend big on 2 guys you feel very confident will be impact players or spend less on each player for 3-4 guys who have potential and could make an impact but not as confident (like AP and GW3 not getting much playing time but at programs like UConn and Michigan)?

Mens - @ William and Mary Wed 12/18 7pm Flo

you think we were the only team offering AP, Beagle, Dusan and GW3?
No. My point was if we focused on paying all 5 of these guys some decent money, try something different (that's the theme here) next year. Find a couple studs that you know will make an impact and give them the most money. Worry about the rest of the roster after that. My question to you would be do you think there are transfers who are playing at mid majors now who got better offers than the guys we got? I say yes. I don't think we landed some of the top mid major transfers out there.

I liked out transfers when we got them. I even wanted GW3 to start. LOL! But, looking at things now, I wouldn't want to go this same portal route next year of Dartmouth, Alabany, West Mi, and 2 guys from majors who didn't see the court. So, my point is try something different next year. Give an impact guy or 2 the money.

Lawfare: US v. Trump, Trump wins!

Fani Willis has been disqualified from prosecuting Trump. This case is dead. Trump and all of the defendants should be granted sanctions. She blew it. She will probably lose her law license.

A Georgia court of appeals disqualified Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis and her team from prosecuting President-elect Donald Trump in his election interference case on Thursday.

The court did not toss Trump's indictment entirely, but Willis and the assistant DAs working in her office now have "no authority to proceed."

"After carefully considering the trial court’s findings in its order, we conclude that it erred by failing to disqualify DA Willis and her office," the filing states. "The remedy crafted by the trial court to prevent an ongoing appearance of impropriety did nothing to address the appearance of impropriety that existed at times when DA Willis was exercising her broad pretrial discretion about who to prosecute and what charges to bring."

Great points 97!

Insular. Thanks for helping me improve my vocab today as well. Again, another reason you are paid more for post :).

But we had been beating this drum for years, but like everything with this program, it is hitting a tennis ball into a wall. Boyden (although related to Grant) was an example of an outside hire. And our defense seemed to improve for a couple years with Mooney essentially saying he was the DC. But maybe it was just personnel, and maybe after being fully insulated (poor use) now he is losing his effectiveness. Too many yes men, not enough idea guys. Or the ideas are shot down.

And yes, like PQ himself - we undersell the hell out of the hoops program. #RVA - both Richmond teams in the S16 - what a great opportunity to elevate the program more. THUD.

The Trump Administration

Just what we need... Elon Musk influencing policy. The guy is a high functioning sufferer of Aspergers. He is the richest man in the world, but he can barely relate to people. Elon Musk will hit a brick wall when he runs up against Congress.
