Spiders Collective-Season Preview-Oct 4

Question for the collective- will they ever share the amount they have or the amount they have given out to athletes? I don't think many other schools or collective do this - but I could see pros and cons to this.

Con - definetley would not be good if we share, and find out - we are near the middle or bottom of dollars with schools we are directly competing with.

Pros - but if our cash flow is good, and others school collectives are secretive - this could be good PR and a recruting ploy. We got the money, we are using it, and other schools that don't share - well, they must not have as much or not sharing as much as we do.

Tyler Kropp - 2025 Offer

Well Collins had a lot of hype when he landed Nance too, and where did that get him? I know, he got NW to its first NCAA before that. But around these parts one NCAA in 10 years is not all that exciting.
They have gone 12-8 in the B10 the past 2 years and, not only made the dance the past 2 years, but won a game there each year.

Casual fans might not be donating because they see no return. Calling them on the phone and asking them to give $400 and get nothing back but maybe a sticker to put on their car, they won't do it. But maybe, just maybe - you sell a membership, and now the casual fan sees it as they are getting something back. They get the "opportunity" to attend events, meet players, coaches, etc. - all while paying for a membership, which is really a donation to the Collective.

Idk the SC used to have events and biggest advantage to many, unlike collective, was tax deductible. Yes, this could be more access to players but they r paying even more for tix to those events. Membership plus paying more $ for tix. I just don’t see that as what a casual fan does. U say they don’t donate & attend a few games but then r going to pay much more $ to the athletes directly to see them at couple practices & the coach talk about the team they r casual about. Happy to be wrong but a reach imo.

Maybe u snag a few. There r some exceptions. Nothing wrong with big tent approach and see who comes in. But I just think your target market is the more serious fan who can only afford so much. They want to support NIL & team but financially r not currently the bigger donors. If u can sell memberships to casual fans who care only minimally I’d recommend the Collective hire u asap.

Do you approve of the move to the Patriot League?

We just don’t do some of the small stuff. Why not have a local HS marching band? You get HS students and their families. Heck - invite 2 and make it a mini-competition. Give out an award at the end of the year for the best band. That sort of small stuff helps build some attention in the local community.
Today we played a member of the HBCU, and we claim diversity is so important, so,
why didn’t we market the game more in the African American areas of Richmond.
Do we really have a marketing arm for our football program? I can think of some
high school kids that could do a better job.

If I heard correctly we had 10 out and several played injured, we need the bye week. good timing. Cam could not take eyes off 1st read most of 1st half, little better 2nd.

9 left in 3rd, Towson 20, W&M 13. No easy games. Make that 27-13, D just returned a fumble recovery for 6 more. Another Tribe fumble now 34-13 at 3.19. Towson wins 34-27.

There were a few positives - including the running game. The backs hit the hole hard. O-line looked really banged up. I was surprised we didn’t sub out but maybe we just didn’t have enough healthy guys. The guys keep going though and didn’t give up. Have to give them a ton of credit.

Kicking game was rock solid - as were coverage units.

On defense we need to get healthy. We played a ton of really young guys.

On offense the TE & WR groups need some work - important to run crisp routes and hit blocking assignments.

Cam looked very hesitant with the ball. He’s best when loose and in a rhythm. Given how well we run the ball, we should be looking to take shots downfield. The one series we stretched the field we scored a quick TD. Need to come out with that approach and be willing to throw people open.

The bye week hits at a great time. I think Delaware is a game we can win and take some serious momentum forward.
