We have a very good football program

RICHMOND, Va. (October 28, 2024) – CAA Football has announced its weekly award winners for Week 9 of the 2024 season. Richmond sophomore quarterback Cam Coleman was selected as the Offensive Player of the Week, while Villanova junior linebacker received Defensive Player of the Week accolades. Elon junior punter Jeff Yurk was chosen as the Special Teams Player of the Week and Hampton freshman linebacker Michael Matthews-Canty was named the Rookie of the Week.

Coleman was 15-of-16 passing for 278 yards and 4 TD’s and added a fifth TD on the ground in Richmond’s 41-14 win at Bryant. The sophomore had a 4-yard TD run in the first quarter before throwing scoring passes of 60, 36, 15 and 16 yards in the second to give the Spiders a 41-7 advantage. Secret Scrimmage vs. ODU: 94-79 W

AP and Tanner playing really well is what stood out to me. I thought going in the "3" was going to be our biggest unknown and potential weak spot but based on first 2 scrimmages that does not seem to be the case.

Also holding even in rebounding against ODU is a positive. I know Jeff Jones is no longer there but ODU has a long history of being a bully ball, attack the glass type of program.

Box score doesn't say anything about defense, so that remains an unknown.

2024 Presidential Election

🙄 Yep, actions of a random person are definitely reflective of a presidential candidate and should be permanently ascribed to said candidate.

Meanwhile, Trump have a guy the microphone at his rally in NYC yesterday who called Puerto Rico a floating island of garbage, but I'm sure no one has any issues with that...
And that was one of the nicer things he said. But he was cheered loudly.

Secret Scrimmage vs. ODU: 94-79 W

AP and Tyne playing well is just what I wanted to see.
wish we could watch this one. I can't logically comprehend the +/- being correct. how can AP score 22 in 18 minutes but be -8, while Dusan scores 3 in 22 minutes and he's +21? to be +21, you'd think he had to be playing with someone scoring a ton ... like AP!

Mooney has said Beagle is a very good passer. those 7 dimes look good.
only 7 TOs for the game is a heck of a number.
one negative is Tyne going 2-5 from the FT line.
Graham getting that much time is interesting. didn't do much with it though.
if healthy, I don't understand not getting Robinson and McGlothin some run in a scrimmage.

OT: Woj bomb!

I hear you on this, I think there is that model now, and it is called the IVY league. Every year I plan to go out to a couple Yale games, maybe this will the year.
I feel like the Ivy is missing out on a big opportunity with this NIL money stuff. nobody has more potential NIL. if that league wanted to, they could be a power in basketball landing all the really smart great hoopers.

OT: Woj bomb!

While there is no question that money and greed have a
good foot hold on college athletics, I wonder if there is a
group of schools that wants to start another association, where the
old rules prevail. It would be a mammoth task, but FOX started a
network, Tesla started an automotive business, Amazon started as
a bookstore, etc. With the right organization and planning, it could be done.
if that's what you're looking for it's called DIII. great seats are available cheap.

2024 Richmond Spiders Football - Opponents Countdown - Bryant

Hummel was dinged, but came back to play later.
Brown at RB dinged and I do not know if returned, but I think he walked off on his own.
Hodges at DE dinged but walked off, I do not remember him returning.
Thaos Figaro at DE did return or this game after missing time during the last few weeks.

Hope all ok. By end of game, they were playing all the young guys, so I hope they are all fine and they were just not needed.

Have some fun

I went as a preppy. The parking lot outside before the concert in 84 was just as wild as the concert inside. It was a drug infused pregame event. The smell of Marijuana was everywhere. The Dead had a following, people traveled around the country to go to their concerts. It was a Bohemian, nomadic lifestyle for some of their fans. Some of the fans were Uber rich kids, others were hangers-on. It was the 14th concert for my UR friend who organized our trip. I know a girl who went to upwards of 50.

I am surprised the cops didn't make arrests. They could have disrupted the drug trade in a third of the country.

I told my kids I went, they thought I was cool. I also told them who I went with, they were shocked
The wife of the accountant of one of my first clients after I graduated, wrote the national newsletter for the dead in the late 80s.

Interesting couple, he looked like Orville Redenbacher and she looked like Mama Cass…
