OT: Woj bomb!

Yep, think this is more of a move to a labor of love. He probably liked or even loved the ESPN gig - but it is a crazy 24/7 world in which he does have to be texting at 1AM to ensure he is beating out Shams and the others for the scoop. This role, he is in control, and he probably can create the role and see fit how he wants to do things. And it will be furthering the SBU hoops program. Have to thing the 24/7 reporting aspect is fun and exciting, but becomes tiresome after a while.

Do you approve of the move to the Patriot League?

I don't know if players come to Richmond believing they will end up in the NFL. BUT - I think many players believe there is a chance at NFL if they play well. BUT - what is more likely to happen I think with the move from the CAA to Patriot League, UR football will become a stepping stone for players to move up to better 1AA schools or even FBS schools. I don't think anyone goes to Patriot league schools even thinking of the NFL, unless they want to intern for an NFL team.

OT: Woj bomb!

I think likely more of a lifestyle change for Woj more than anything. Don't know what the life of an NBA insider reporter is, but assume a lot of travel, and lots of time glued to your computer and cell phone trying to break the next big story. So if he was making 7M per year, maybe he says - don't need the money, and just going to relax now and do something to help his alma mater.

OR - ESPN has been under fire lately and they seem to get rid of people at a wim, maybe he knew something and said - let me get out of here before something big happens.

I also wonder - is this new GM position and you also see "player development" coaches as well - are these new positions just the latest thing in college basketball to spend money on and keep up with the "Jones's". Years ago it was practice facilities - you were behind if you didn't have one, even if you didn't need one - you had to get one because every else was doing it and you have to keep up with your competition. Charter flights was another one, something that is much more common even among mid-majors school like UR. Are these positions just the next item schools will need to have to keep up?

2024–25 schedule

Baylor–Gonzaga was already known, just not the exact date and location (had been rumored for Vegas or Mexico City). Baylor still has a spot open.

Meanwhile, programs like Cornell, Lehigh, and Citadel have officially announced their schedules in recent days, confirming they won't be in our MTE. I think Dartmouth, Saint Peter's, and Delaware State are the only programs left who are not already lined up in an MTE or have not announced their schedule, but all three have reported (or announced by their opponents) game dates conflicting with the Gulf Coast Showcase.

Players come to Richmond to play football while getting a quality education. Players go to Alabama believing someday they may play in the NFL.
Your point is well taken. I changed my comment to "Many". For a while there, we had a string of great players, including Brian Jordan (baseball), Tim Hightower and Sean Barber who had long careers in the NFL. They and their position replacements, and many others, honestly believed they were good enough to play in the NFL.

2024 Richmond Spiders Football - Opponent's Countdown - Delaware State

Matter of time for a QB injury when he is running the ball a dozen times/game. Makes sense to run when it’s the best option, but we’ve been burned in past years with QB runs - example is Mancuso in VT game. That injury cost us several games.
you mean the game where Mancuso had already picked the first down and 20 plus yards and decided not to slide? That's a dumb play by a player who has a library of them in his career here.

Opening Night Lineup - Just for fun

My starting 5 would like like this. I am very high on B. Artis and Collin Tanner. I think that B. Artis can be our go to scorer, probably not at a King type of level but still. He's a very quick good, smooth handle, can shoot the ball on a high clip and I think he's going to suprise some people and teams this year. I think C Tanner is going to have a breakout year this year too, he has good size, can shoot the lights out and he is a good defender and athlete, he can take over that glue guy role that Bailey to an extent had last year but I think tanner is going to be up for the A10 most improved this year.

The Harris Doctrine

The height of perfidy is Harris-Biden's ban of new liquified natural gas export projects. This is a another devastating concession to the green energy special interests. It destroys American interests abroad and damages American jobs at home. Europe and Ukraine need that gas. We can supply it, but we won't.

The Energy Department in January paused permits for new LNG export projects in order supposedly to review whether they are in the “public interest.” DOE approval is required for LNG exports to countries with which the U.S. doesn’t have free trade agreements, including Europe and Japan.

Harris-Biden hoped the pause would excite young progressive voters amid a TikTok lobbying campaign on the issue. But it has alienated allies counting on U.S. gas so they can reduce their dependence on Russia, which still accounts for about 15% of Europe’s gas supply.

“Russia’s increasingly aggressive actions towards Ukrainian infrastructure, including electricity and gas storage facilities, highlight the urgent need to assist Ukraine in recovering and rebuilding and for Ukraine to diversify and secure its energy supply,” write the House Democrats, most of whom represent oil and gas producing areas.
