Tyler Kropp - 2025 Offer

They have gone 12-8 in the B10 the past 2 years and, not only made the dance the past 2 years, but won a game there each year.
everyone is right. good the last 2 years, horrible historically.
there's certainly risk he could lose a lot, but NW is trending up. not a bad choice for a high academic kid who wants to play in a high major conference.

Spiders Collective-Season Preview-Oct 4

A comment on the scrimmage info:

Love hearing about the physicality. I feel like the level of defensive intensity really picked up in Boyden's first season (though slipped a little as year went on), and then last year was very good again. Harris, Walz, Dji and Bigs were all very tough grabbing rebounds in traffic and playing physical - and that worried/worries me losing three of those guys. Like the addition of Beagle in this regard, and think Jaylen Robinson will have a place.

Back to the scrimmage - the "physicality" reported is my number one take away and bright spot in my opinion. The softer play of Mooney's team was a big criticism I had in past years, and like that we seem to be still moving in the right direction. Despite being on the shorter side, both Hunt and Tyne are quick, and physical defenders, and LOVE what I have seen from Hunt setting the tone and expectation. That gives me hope that a guy like GW3 will be able to step in on the defensive end. I really like that Walz impressed, as I am high on him this year (which I know some of our Philly / PA based experts are not). I think Beagle will still play a huge role and think he fits right into this theme. Still not sure we have those long/athletic wing defenders from last season replaced, but like hearing the intensity and think that can go a long way even if we lose a little talent on the defensive side of the ball.

Opening Night Lineup - Just for fun

Over Reaction Monday :)

Ok, since we don't have a lot to go on, or know Mooney's thought process on Day 1 starters (though more I think about it - we do know loyalty has been big factor in the past). So this is mostly based on comments from the scrimmage.

Guard - D. Hunt
Guard - Tyne
Guard - GW3
Forward - Dusan
Center - Walz

Like what I heard about Tyne, and he was really solid in game action last year. Returning player that played heavy minutes, and add to that B. Artis missing time with injury. All adds up to Tyne getting first crack in my mind.
GW3 - We have had several reports of him shooting very well in practice, and now in scrimmage. The HS tape shows him to be a + athlete. Questions, how is his defense? Will we be too small with 3 guard. Hard to tell a lot from a scrimmage I think, and in no way ruling out Glou or Tanner here. Just my over reaction based on the little we know.
I think someone like Glou, despite practicing with Uconn for two years still may be shaking some rust from little game activitiy (and that was mostly blow outs I think). Tanner is a real wild card but sounds like he is ready to contribute.

Graham - Brooklyn mentioned that Graham seems quite active in the clips and now the scrimmage. IF we go three guards and it is working - I think that is a good scenario for him to get some time possibly.

My hope is still that Glou is that guy, and can be a plus defender on the wing and hit 3's - A 3 and D guy playing 20+ minutes.

Mens 2024 - 2025 Polls/Rankings/Awards

7th - I think had last year not happened, we would have been picked in double digits but A10 coaches are realizing that we should be a net winner in the transfer and NIL era. As we expected, no Spiders on any of the preseason all conference teams.

Tyler Kropp - 2025 Offer

Your guys? Closest I’ve ever been to Northwestern is Chicago.
I am saying that Northwestern is a good school and Collins does a good job coaching.
They are the Vanderbilt of the Big-10.
Maybe you should post a billboard there. “Please play us in OOC games!”

You sure do seem to have a lot of billboard related ideas. Are you vying for 1st Lieutenant Billboard?

Spiders Collective-Season Preview-Oct 4

Question for the collective- will they ever share the amount they have or the amount they have given out to athletes? I don't think many other schools or collective do this - but I could see pros and cons to this.

Con - definetley would not be good if we share, and find out - we are near the middle or bottom of dollars with schools we are directly competing with.

Pros - but if our cash flow is good, and others school collectives are secretive - this could be good PR and a recruting ploy. We got the money, we are using it, and other schools that don't share - well, they must not have as much or not sharing as much as we do.
I think the turmoil that Deion Sander’s son with law suits and whatever, may have a big affect in the
NIL world

Mens 2024 - 2025 Polls/Rankings/Awards

Mooney and Hunt will be interviewed tomorrow on the Field of 68 YouTube show from 1:45pm-2:00pm, and their official press conference will be from 4:05pm-4:15pm on ESPN+.

Final prediction - I think we’ll be picked 8th in the conference and have no preseason all-conference selections. Nobody can really predict how transfers will perform these days, so IMO preseason all-conference has less meaning than ever.

Do you approve of the move to the Patriot League?

Cry me a river. Life isn't fair? JMU dropped a ton of men's and women's sports and charged insane student activity fees to make the jump, still cant generate a profit because you don't have TV money and you have the nerve to complain? How about you ask all those scholarship dukes that didn't play football if life is fair?

In FBS you're just paying more to lose more, get over it or don't join. Got lucky to beat GW, even luckier that UNC quit after a getting a bye week to prepare for them and their luck finally ran out against a team that would struggle in the CAA. JMU is the middle child always starving for their parents attention. Eff em!

It is not crowded today. A&T brought a decent crowd. We need to clean house.
I was on 40 yard line and bunch of their fans next few rows below us. The last several years attendance seems to have declined. The powers to be can’t actually think that attendance will pick up next year with “new Patriot League rivalries”.
