Great name. idk what it means but it sounds like a book from Sunday school.
Here's what I found:

Southern Illinois earned the nickname “Little Egypt” in the early 19th century. There are several theories behind this nickname:

1> Fertility and Agriculture: One theory suggests that the region’s fertile soil along the Mississippi and Ohio Rivers reminded settlers of the Nile Delta in Egypt. The rich land facilitated prosperous farming, just like the fertile plains of Egypt.

2> Migration Patterns: Another theory posits that the nickname arose due to migration patterns. Early settlers from the southern states, particularly Kentucky and Tennessee, migrated northward into Illinois. When they arrived in the southern part of the state, they found a climate and terrain similar to that of their former homes, prompting them to dub the region “Little Egypt. “

3> Joseph’s Journey: A local legend suggests that the nickname originated from a severe winter in the early 19th century. During this time, the region suffered from crop failures and economic hardship. A trader named Conrad Will, who was believed to resemble an Egyptian, allegedly stored grain and sold it to locals at exorbitant prices during the famine, akin to Joseph in the biblical story of Egypt. This legend may have contributed to the association with Egypt.

Regardless of the exact origin, the nickname “Little Egypt” has persisted over the years, reflecting the unique character and history of the southern Illinois region.

2024 Presidential Election

I agree, its awful what some Republicans are saying or have said about Trump.
Galli didn't call you "Garbage" either.

If McDonalds stunt wasn't enough, today Trump pictured in garbage truck with "Make America Great Again" painted on the side. He is tweaking Biden/Harris. Running rings around them on campaign trail. He gets humor, the Left doesn't.

Don't know how it ends, but the campaign with humor and joy ain't Harris'.

2024 FCS Preseason Top 25 Hero:Top 25(the analyst)

Warren Nolan has Holy Cross ranked at 41, Lafayette at 42 and Georgetown at 51. The CAA has 4 teams in the top 25 and seven teams above Holy Cross.
The CAA is clearly a better conference than the PL however, the NCAA did not include any of the 4 teams in the top 25 in their top 10 seeds if the tournament was played today. I don't think that would have been the case a few years ago. I still believe the CAA at this point is backing up. Only time will tell.

Trivia time! The region of southern Illinois has long been called Little Egypt due to the fertile soils around the Mississippi and Ohio. The city of Cairo is at the tip of Illinois where the rivers meet. SIU is in Carbondale a bit further north, but still in the region.

2024–25 schedule

I honestly don't understand how they haven't announced a resolution to this MTE mess.
can't still be waiting for a 6th or 8th team. they have to have gone through every scenario. just release a statement.
avoiding this isn't the answer.

Yeah it's unprofessional. Our program and school operate professionally in a lot of ways too, but I've found imo we operate the other way a bit too much. I've said it before...the head in the sand mentality. Never once ackowledging lack of performance vs. VCU, zero quotes announcing the OOC schedule, this MTE. just a few examples. I get it bad news but there's still a responsbility imo. better to tackle stuff head on.

And most of u guys were giving them crap about not releasing the OOC schedule...I didn't. I said no big deal to wait longer if needed. Not like we were selling any tickets at that time anyway. They weren't available. regardless it was going to come out where you had minimum 2-5 months advance notice for planning. This is weeks away, so much different. I realize not many r going to this, but I can speak for myself, I've traveled for the Spiders & I've wanted to go on 1 of these destination MTEs sometime. Granted I've waited for 1 of the good ones that never ever comes our way. This was actually a consideration but they killed it with lack of info. We have 5 teams, we know it's not going to work that way without some changes to MTE structure, mte rules, adding more teams etc. They could at least float some scoop JOC way had they wanted.

Recruiting Tracker

Yeah, July article about him transferring to Greensboro Day for his final season lists a bunch of offers, but no Richmond.

OOC Predictions

Nov 9 (Sat) 6 PM Home Marist Robins Center
Nov 13 (Wed) 7 PM Away Charlotte Charlotte, NC
Nov 16 (Sat) 12 PM Away Bucknell Lewisburg, PA

Nov 20 (Wed) 7 PM Home Maine Robins Center
Dec 8 (Sun) 12 PM Away Auburn Auburn, AL
Dec 14 (Sat) 6 PM Home Belmont Robins Center
Dec 18 (Wed) 7 PM Away William & Mary Williamsburg, VA
Dec 21 (Sat) 6 PM Home VMI Robins Center
Dec 28 (Sat) 6 PM Home Florida Gulf Coast Robins Center

Removing Mount Olive because it doesn't actually count towards anything meaningful and the Gulf Coast fiasco-waiting-to-happen since we don't even know if it will be played this is the list of games. It is more difficult to win on the road, especially in college hoops so looking at those specifically:

Charlotte - beat them by 8 at home last season, know nothing about their turnover situation
Bucknell - normally wouldn't be nervous here but they have shown they have teeth in beating St Joes
Auburn - moral victory special
W&M - historically a pushover though they have beaten us recently. New coach there so he could have them revved up by mid-Dec.

I expect two losses from that group and then hopefully a clean slate of W's at home. Belmont usually decent but again no clue on what they are or are not returning from last season.

2024–25 schedule

Well, SIU thinks it's still a go. They've just announced an NIL fundraiser dinner there.

2024–25 schedule

As Sman pointed out in another thread, 7 days until we kick off the season. Doomsday clock counts down on this brick of a MTE. Why schedule in advance at all if we have to add games midstream? Just wait until after first two weeks of games then call up everyone who is 4-0.

don't even give them an option, just show up with the full traveling squad and make it real awkward for them to explain to us that there was no game scheduled 😏
