Just posted this in the general 2017 thread, but going to give him his own thread since we've apparently now offered him.

I think he would be a great start to our next class -- meant to post earlier that he was on campus this weekend

Roll Spide! Welcome Bryce to the Spider family! OSC

At a particular moment, seem to recall Bryce might re-classify for 2016? OSC

Great news. Bryce is going to be a good player for us. Really liking our recruiting recently, we seem to be zeroing in on guys well. Maybe Grant Williams can add to that.

Would love to hear that we finish off this year's recruiting with a power-forward who comes in at roughly 6-7, and 230, and plays excellent defense. I like our recent recruiting with one major exception. I am not confident that we are placing enough emphasis on defenisve skills (including shot-blocking) in our recent commits. We lose our top 3 defenders (Zo, Deion, TD) by next season, and I beleive we will regret it if we do not have any defensive "specialists" available for late game substitutions, in the years ahead. TD and Deion play a really important role, with their defense, and if you look at our projected starting 5 for 2016, who do we have available who can change the game with blocked shots or steals? We will likely be very good this year, since we still ahve Deion and TD available, but I feel we need to sign at least one strong INTERIOR defender this fall, so that they are available next season....

Saw him at practice on Saturday. Was wondering if he was a recruit by all the attention he was given.

Two 1000 point scorers already in the family. 6-5 shooter with projectable frame. I like the pick-up. I do agree that we seen to be reasonably set at guard and small forward for the forseeable future. We have 3 more spots open for the 2017-18 class. I would expect that the coaches will target front court players.

Maybe with Bryce, Nick, Demonte and Grant already in the fold they can start with helping recruiting the last 16 schollie and the additional 17 ones!

wait ... look at him next to Mooney in the commitment picture 32 posted. how tall is CM? Bryce doesn't look more then 2" shorter, max.

So, is Bryce a 2017 recruit or 2016? As for height, how tall is Mooney, from the picture Bryce appears an inch or two shorter than coach.

Chris really is 6'6". Bryce appears to be 1" shorter than Chris. Ergo, Bryce is 6'5". OSC

Might be 3" shorter than CM. He's a 2 ... not a 3.

When I was 16 years old, I was 5'9. Ended up being 6'3 when by my sophomore year in college. Whatever his true height is, he might not be done growing yet.

Spiderman, I'm sure that a picture of Mooney looking down while standing near Kevin Smith is a much better comparison of height than Mooney standing next to Bryce himself.

lol.
I think it only matters if us fans are hoping he can play the 3. And I doubt that's the case. he's a two with great shooting range, and I read he's a great passer with a high basketball IQ. Odds are he's strictly a 2 and will compete there with our other 2's, and there's a boatload of them. but I love having guards who can pass, handle and shoot.
I'm confident we're done recruiting SG's for a while.

CM was listed at 6'7" as a player at Princeton, could really be that this kid is 6'5" or close to that. Like someone said, unless we need him to play the 3, 6'4"or 6'5" is plenty tall enough.

This young man is at least 6"4. I have seen him in person and I had my contacts in.

If he is a 2, we have a lot of talent at the 2 guard position. Don't think we will be looking for any more recruits at that position for the next couple of years.

I think this kid is 5'9 and standing on a step stool. My glasses were on while I read this thread. I am not sure if he's taller then me. I'm 6'2 when standing on a scale but 6'1 when standing next to a measuring tape. I sometimes wear shoes but I have no photos of me standing next to Chris Mooney who I suspect is taller than 5'1.

In a couple years I think we are going to see three of these six guys on the floor at the same time a lot, whether you want to call them 1s, 2s, or 3s.

Khwan Fore
Julius Johnson
Jessie Pistokache
De'Monte Buckingham
Nick Sherod
Bryce Schneider

yeah, probably. I don't think we've got 4 reserves in the bunch. to even bring in Julius and Jessie in the same class, I think they see at least Jessie as a combo guard. maybe both. Nick looks the most like a 3 to me.
I don't know how it will shake out, but best will play. and one or two really good players won't.

Somewhere in there I see a redshirt or two, just to even out and extend our time with guys who can't get early time. For example, if Bryce redshirts, he'd be three years behind these frosh and 2 behind Nick/De'Monte and that's a good set up.

maybe, but I'm going to assume Bryce is really good. you don't offer and bring juniors in for visits this early if they're not. and I'd rather redshirt big men. but maybe.

How much Bryce plays is really up to him. He has 2 years to prepare. If he hits the weight room hard and continues to evolve his game, he could contribute right away. If he slacks, then he might need to redshirt.

Agreed, you don't make an offer this early unless you are pretty convinced that you are signing a really good prospect. It is just interesting that if he is a 2 guard, that we already have some presumed very good talent in the system.

Khwan is probably more of a 1.
Julius is a straight up 2.
De'monte appears to be a bit of a hybrid 1 and 2.
Jesse also appears to be a hybrid 1 or 2.
Sherod is probably best suited as a 3.
And then Bryce.

So, that is 6 players that all can play a guard position. That is a really good problem to have as we are going to be having a dog fight for minutes. Also it means that we need really need all of our remaining scholarship to be 4 and 5 big man type players. As well stocked as we are at back court positions, we are really thin right now in front court players. In two years, we will have Paul and Grant (and Grant is probably more of a 3 right now).
