The game will be played as scheduled. How many Spider fans are in attendance is highly in doubt.

Davidson went on the road last night and allowed 96 points to St. Louis, the worst team in the league and a team that often has
trouble scoring 65. If we lose this game, regardless of how many people show up, the season is over. Pack up and go home.

Seems a waste to do the "red out" when the game attendance will probably be very low.

If it's a lot of snow, would be good for a huge student turnout. Easy walk.
And assuming paid attendance is sparce, Administration should encourage a large (hopefully) student contingency to spread out in lower bowl, especially around Davidson bench. Fans that are there would probably enjoy the enthusiasm while those that sit on their hands are unlikely to show up.
Spiderstudent17----go to work making it happen.

They have made the dance three out of last four years and won the A-10 last year. Pretty silly comparison.

McKillop has won 3 NCAA games in 26 years, all with Steph Curry in 2008. I am pretty sure there would be fire McKillop threads daily if he were coaching here the argument being he can only win when it matters with when he has the best shooter in the history of the sport playing for him. I don't see Davidson having any more long term success in the A10 under McKillop than Richmond has had under Mooney. He is a good coach and was able to constantly be the best in the SoCon against extremely weak competition, but I am not convinced he will be able to do the same thing in the A10. He had a great and unexpected first year, but this year Davidson has fallen back to reality and likely won't have a winning A10 record. We will see how things go for them in the coming years.

Davidson was in the NCAA tourney 7 times since 2000. If I remember correctly we tried and failed to lure him away from Davidson. We've only been 3 times and we're in a multibid league (stronger league yes but still multibid)

I agree, postpone it vs. look bad, unless they are going to put red covers with faces painted on over all the seats.

Plus Mckillop salary is less than half of Mooney's.

Coach McKillop's Davidson Teams have been to the NCAA First Round seven times and only recorded ONE win which was the Steph Curry Elite 8 team.

Yep, if we are going by NCAA wins per year Mooney is about 2x better than McKillop.

Been to Davidson several times for SoCon soccer games when my son was at UNCG and great little community. There is such a thing
as being comfortable with your surroundings and McKillop probably falls into that mold. Money and prestige are not everything, and if
he can stay competitive in the A10 based on Davidson's admission requirements, then good for him and he probably would have no desire to
leave.

I hope that was full of sarcasm?

I was being slightly sarcastic, but not completely. I am probably the only one in the world who holds this opinion, but I do not think there is a significant difference between Mooney and McKillop in terms of long term program success in the A10. I do not think McKillop is a significantly better coach than Mooney. Time will tell.

Swimming at La Salle and indoor track at Hokie Invite have been canceled for this weekend.

Wonder if the Davidson message boards had a Fire McKillop thread?
I know that 72Spider was speaking tongue in cheek, and fan 2011 you should be the only one:

McKillop’s resume is Hall of Fame worthy. NABC National Coach of the Year. Took the 2008 team with the great Stephen Curry to the Elite Eight and finished the season in the nation’s Top 10. Was named Southern Conference Coach of the Year 10 times, and gained that same distinction in his first year in the A-10. Six of his last nine Davidson teams have won at least 24 games. He dominated his rivals in the Southern Conference, won more games than any coach in conference history, and more games than any Davidson coach. Eight of his Davidson teams have played in the NCAA tournament, five others in the NIT.

McKillop certainly has been a better coach relative to the SoCon than Mooney has been relative to the A-10. How do they stack up in the same league? We'll see. McKillop is ahead there so far, too.

Yes, and McKillop also leads the series 3-1. I can't fault anyone who says McKillop is a better coach, I just tend to judge things on a different scale than most people.

I knew I was a fool for equating the greatness of our team with how many games they win. Clearly we are great because we are so damn offensively efficient. Ive been looking at this the wrong way for so long, but man I feel so much better now about our program.

If we get another top 75 Kenpom efficiency ranking this year, count me in for at least a 10 year extension for CM.

Silly, vcu going to all those meaningless NCAA's tournaments and winning all those games. Fools

I disagree Mooney 1.7333x better than McKillop in that statistic prior to this season and at their current institution.
Mooney at Richmond, 10 seasons, 2 NCAA wins. 1 every 5 years.
McKillop at Davidson, 26 seasons, 3 NCAA wins, 1 every 8 2/3 years.

Of course, the relevancy of that statistic is entirely different debate...

I wish we were more offensively efficient than our opponent in each game. Or in Layman's terms - have a higher score when the game is over.

Its davidson!!!! I think we have greater expectations and are a better program then Davidson but in Davidsons world he has won his league championship many times and in his first year has won an A10 crown. If mooney won an A10 crown last year there wouldnt b a fire mooney thread. So its a silly thing to say.

On that we do disagree, and he's half the cost. That's why UR went after Mckillop before they hired Mooney, McKillop was loyal to Davidson, (another positive). Now depending how you define long term, McKillop is older.

Good move on a number of levels. If Davidson is already up here, than they are stuck in a hotel for a couple extra days. And the RC would have been a ghost town tomorrow. I am kind of surprised given that this is a TV game, and you every program in country gets on their knees for TV.

I agree. Gives me the feeling that the smart weather guys must have a suspicion that this storm is going to be pretty bad.

What are the storm forecast efficiency stats behind this decision?

Could it be that the TV guys said they may not be able to get there?
