Last sentence in O'Connor's article today:
Mooney: "I thought we really fought and competed..."

I think I've finally been brainwashed, when I was leaving the game I was actually happy with "competing". The bar is open....

Unfortunately Mooney's teams find ways to lose and the responsibility lies with him. Spiders shoot 50% (10-20) with 3PTers but only 41% (8-19) from the foul line. If not one thing, it's another leading to losses. Not into this stuff but appears it has reached the point of Mooney being a bad luck charm to have as a coach. :)

I think there are appropriate times to use the competing phraseology. Sometimes you compete against a far better team or when the chips are otherwise down.

When it gets used all the time it cheapens the times where it’s actually appropriate.

Agree with above - when you use it over and over again, it loses its emphasis when it should be used. If we played Duke and lost by 8 - then yeah we "competed". But when you lose to Longwood or your cross town rival (again) - its not competing, it just getting beat and losing.

It's called LOSING, and we have had way too much of it over the past 8 years.

CM throws "We competed" around so much it's starting to sound like "No collusion".

Mooney has all of the "best" words. Don't believe all of the fake news being populated around by the FMM. Those people are losers. We are going to be tremendous next year. Believe me.

Has Mooney EVER said: "We coaches didn't get it done tonight." or "The team didn't do what they needed to do to win. They didn't rebound, they didn't defend well, they didn't hit free throws."

Dennis Green's rant quote applies to every season under the Mooney regime: They are who we thought they were. The record is 12-17 and that's the quality of the team.
