VCU is playing really well right now. I see them going to the Sweet 16. They all but dominated the conference.

It’s a shame that people on this board can’t give credit where credit is due. Mike Rhodes is a class act. Whether his players are under our standards or not, they are clean cut athletes that are not highly talented but are passionate and give it their all. And most importantly, Rhodes can coach their talents and blend them into winners 👏

Agree on Rhodes, that guy now has as many NCAAs in 6 years as our guy has in 18. That team just got better all year, they will be a tough out in the tourney for whoever they get.

Hard to argue against that feeling Gallipoli. The more looking up stuff see most of their team back next season. See two highly rated frosh out of HS didn't even play this season. Don't see any real possibilities of transfers from this squad so best hope is few get arrested over the summer that leads to them leaving.

Impressive work by the Lambs in a "transitional" year with so many unknowns. All their "hope" and "luck" definitely paid off.

St Mary’s is my new favorite team.
I can despise the team/fanbase (fortunately they are neither as obnoxious nor arrogant as they were under SS, and Rhodes is a likeable guy), while at the same time recognizing they have done a good job. And I think I would hate it just as much even if our accomplishments exceeded theirs.

Man UR fans need to get over themselves. VCU dominates UR in hoops and is a pretty significant mid major year after year. They have an admin and fanbase that strives for success, unlike UR. I give them much props and will root hard for them to win some games in the toirnament. You can only hope their success might drive the UR’s weak leadershipless athletic department to feel the need to achieve more.
They are a good team but historically perform badly in the tournament. IMO if a 12 vs 5 matchup, Id want St Mary’s.
I was with you until the last sentence. Moses could part the lake separating the 2 sides of our campus, and it still wouldn’t be enough to drive leadership to achieve more.
The more they win, the more our leadership would just say "It's impossible to achieve these things because of our academic standards."
Winners make commitments. Losers make excuses.
As an A-10 member don't we get a slice of the NCAA appearance money the Rams earn? Doesn't the amount increase with the deeper VCU wins into the bracket?
Hell, if we can't beat them maybe they can help us fund an NIL with some of their NCAA money?

Money isn't the issue. The University doesn't want to win! There is zero accountability. We are being told by the BOT/AD to lower expectations and that this last season was a transition year. Money and players are not the issue. The lack of commitment to winning is.
If you watched the BYU / St. Mary's WCC semis game, SMC really struggled against full court pressure, almost blew a 26 point lead. They refused to attack once they had broken the press and the freshmen guard -while a good player - physically wasn't up to the task. When VCU starts their foul every play/dare refs to call it all strategy, it may come down to how the refs call the game. It could easily go VCU's way and I like this matchup a lot for them. Much, much better than facing Duke or Miami in a 12/5 game IMO.
I believe our "share" of each VCU game is about $5k-6k per year over 5 years.
In other words, enough money to subsidize some youth tickets and help the Lakewood Manor busses get their oil changed.
Ace Baldwin will smother the SMC frosh guard and Lambs will win going away.
