Vad Lee out for season

Sucks for them. Not sure that I would call him their best QB ever. Rodney Landers was pretty damn good for a longer period of time.

So, first Briante Weber, then Vad Lee. Don't mess with Spiders.

I am not even certain he was touched by a Spider on the play. I thought he was run into by a O lineman. Either way, his time as a football player is over. It is ashame.

That stinks for them and Vad, but best QB ever for JMU. Vad played a year and half for them.

Looked a little gimpy coming out of the huddle. Then Oline stood on his foot while he tried to back pedal. Haven't seen the replay.

I think he injured his foot/ankle on the running play before the OL appeared to step on him (the passing play). It seemed like an innocuous tackle. He completed that 41 yard pass the next play while he could barely move.

He was definitely hurt the play prior when Omar tackled him for little or no yardage... He was barely able to hobble up to the formation and run the play. I remember thinking at the time no way UR coaching staff isn't seeing this...they should bring the house. Yet somehow, from virtually one leg, he dropped a perfect pass over outstretched arms of one defender into the hands of his receiver for a big gain.

Following their Game of Thrones sign, we are becoming GRR Martin.
"You have a record setting player? Not... Anymore..."

Disclaimer, the above doesn't mean I don't feel bad for the players themselves. (just not for the institutions)

Sucks for them but one player doesn't make a football team. They were a Vad Lee injury away from being in real trouble and now that has happened.

Justin Rascati probably has an issue with how Coach "that guy" (we need to stop referring to him by name since he has refused to say "Richmond' in any interview over the past few days) referred to his injured QB in that release, since he actually won a championship for JMU.

Sorry Vad is out, but Withers is really showing his true colors the past two weeks. Leading up to the game, he refused to mention us by name. At the same time, he soaks up the national media attention from gameday, then after getting dominated by the Spiders refuses to let his coaches or players talk to the media this week. Now, he disrespects JMU past players and calls a QB who played 1.5 seasons and recoded zero playoff wins the best QB in Puke football history. Oh yea, then he was exreamly short with the media this week and even told Burton today in a prerecorded interview that Vad was week to week only to announce on his personal twitter handle an hour later that Vad was done for the year. He really is a perfect fit for Madison.

Unfortunate for Mr. Lee. And Maybe the CAA; they stumble alot there may be one less CAA team in the playoffs.

Yes, what is up with that? "Elon is not as good as the team we just played."

What is he going to do if JMU loses to W&M this weekend? Will he never say "William and Mary"? Keep this up and he wont be able to mention any conference teams.

Well I just watched the replay of the game and VadLee getting hurt. Credit David Jones for the ankle tackle at the 12:31 mark of the 4th quarter that caused the injury. The play after Vad Lee threw a flat footed pass for the big gainer, the announcer thought he was stepped on by a lineman but that never happened. Too bad for a fantastic talent. I wish him a speedy recovery. FWIW we would have won even if the injury would not have occurred. The two consecutive stops won the game.

good work local, btw I totally agree with your last 2 sentences

Guess the logic is if he can't or won't name a team that is one word "Richmond" he would really be unlikely to name a team with three words, if you count the "and"....................... Maybe he just believes the old maxim of "never give your opponents press" to the nth degree? What do you think?

I believe he did the same thing with W&M today on Burton's show according to an exchange burton had on Twitter.

Coach "that guy" loved basking in the media attention pre-game but can't take it post game.

withers is busy thinking of what he is going to buy with that "huge bonus" he is going to get when his team joins the sun belt. maybe a couple of chick-fil-a sandwiches or even a gift certificate to the valley mall. the possibilities are endless.....

Watch replay close. First play after herlocker gets hurt first time . Lee runs off tackle and Omar makes tackle. Leg gets twisted and he began hobbling badly. Announcers give Jones credit for tackle but clearly Omar made play. 13:36 minute Mark q4

His unwillingness to mention the name of his opponent reminds me of middle school. I would have thought he would have grown out of that type of behavior by now -- but I guess not.

And if you're going to do something like that, you damn well better beat "that team" because otherwise, you got your whole team worked up about this huge rivalry and how critical it is to win it and act superior to "that team" for nothing.

I really wish we had stuck another TD down their throats at the end of the game when we had the chance.

Apparently withers never mentions the opponents name. Heard that before - the idea is that you treat every opponent the same so it doesn't matter their name. I don't think he originated this, but I don't know the source.

I've never understood disrespecting your opponent. Good or bad they are trying (at least we believe so). If you disrespect your opponent how can you expect them to respect you?

He mentioned Elon in the same sentence I quoted above. Maybe it's ok once you're two games removed. Otherwise it could get confusing.

"Our opponent this week runs a similar offense to the team we played three weeks ago. Last weekend's opponent was a challenge to prepare for due to their unique style, especially after the injuries we sustained against that other team we played two Saturdays back."

really no big deal, coaches are a funny, quirky lot and do a lot of unusual things. whatever one feels works for him is fine, OK but expect to take some grief from rival fans, which i am sure they could care less about. does not matter, this guy is leading his team/program, to the rarified air of fbs football. what else could a puke ask for, fbs football, it does not get better than that, ask odu, marshall, troy, heck, all the money losers.

Spinner, you are right. Take a look at the Sun Belt Conference below. Joining their ranks would surely lead to sellouts of every home game and numerous national TV audiences. For example, College Game Day at the Texas (State) vs. Georgia (State) game.

Sun Belt Conference
Appalachian State 3-0 1.000 6-1 0.857 W5
Arkansas State 3-0 1.000 4-3 0.571 W3
Georgia Southern 3-1 0.750 5-2 0.714 L1
Idaho 2-2 0.500 3-4 0.429 W2
Georgia State 1-1 0.500 2-4 0.333 W1
Texas State 1-1 0.500 2-4 0.333 W1
UL Lafayette 1-1 0.500 2-4 0.333 L1
South Alabama 1-2 0.333 3-4 0.429 L2
Troy 1-2 0.333 2-5 0.286 W1
UL Monroe 0-3 0.000 1-6 0.143 L5
New Mexico State

Maybe they can schedule a money drop for the Texas State game, a la Georgia State.

well, they won't get us there to fill their stadium again, have to rely on louisiana monroe or south alabama, both huge draws

Big Al just had Withers and Rocco on his radio show for interviews this morning. What a difference in style. Withers is a Punk and Rocco showed class, respecting both the team we defeated as well as Albany.

After listening and reading Withers this week, I now understand why Ohio State told him to hit the road. The man has a serious chip on his shoulder. I feel for his AD Jeff Bourne.

So you are saying there is a difference between JMU and LSU in the FBS?

not at all, feel umwcah will be in the conversation for the final four right away, they are that good. new year's day bowl games, top 5 recruiting classes, the real deal. of course, they may be behind odu which is already there and basking in the bright lights. am sure there will be a movie......

Speaking of ODU, since I have heard not a peep out of their football team since they moved up, I visited their website and I was somewhat surprised to see that they got shut out at home by App State 49-0. wow

I was talking to someone the other day about ODU and how we don't hear anything about them. I'm sure in the tidewater area they pay attention, but not anywhere else. I feel like the same could happen to JMU if they decided to move up to the FBS level. No one would care much outside of Harrisonburg.

yep, now if all of the teams in the state, sans tech and cavs, formed their own fbs conference, then there would be relevance but if not, deathly silence......

Sun belt is a FCS conference operating at the FBS level. Our backup QB managed to become conference player of the year after transferring there. Who the hell would want to join a conference in Idaho. Stupid. Half those teams were FCS or nonexistent a few years back.

ODU got waxed by Florida International 41-12 last week. Record stands at 3-4. Having a hard time replacing Heinicke. Replaced the starting QB a couple weeks ago with QB turned WR who engineered a comeback win. He got hurt and now they are back to the first guy. Struggling but I still think they will be a force in a few years. Have been signing some decent recruits.
