UR v Albany In-Game Thread

I've been critical of the spiders this game (and while a lot of that is justified) I have to give credit where credit is do. We found a way to win. Even with lucky breaks, it doesn't matter, we won. There is some grit to this team that seems to grind out close games, and while it may not be pretty, it shows some toughness about the group of guys we have.

Sure our football hasn't been the best and we had a bad loss to a bad team, but we've beaten 2 top 25 teams and an FBS team. There's a lot to improve, but I am proud of the team and where we are right now.

Go Spiders!

Wait, if Thompson was in the end zone and fumbled, it shouldn't matter. Once you cross the line, it's a score
He fumbled into the endzone. The one that I didn't understand was the hands to the face, when UA was backing us because they knew they were guilty of holding.

Sure am glad we won a "nail biter" on the road!
Watched a little of the VU/URI game. Nova looks really powerful!
I found something "curious" about the URI uniforms.
Their teams are called Rams. Therefore the blue rams horns on the helmets.
Why do they have a ship anchor on their jersey sleeve?

This is not a championship team. This is a very mediocre team that will be lucky to win two more games. I am very sad, I really had my hopes up for this year. At least tailgating is fun.
I disagree this is a championship type team but is under achieving. Even with injuries they were the better team. The seniors need to understand, for most of them this is it; A once in a lifetime opportunity to be a championship team requires all out effort every week.

For the way regulation, we could have folded in OT. Great fight til the end. You need 8 wins to make the playoffs. No matter the mistakes we made, we are now at 5.

But I agree, the talent is there we just aren't hitting our full potential. But being 5-1 without playing great for weeks is a great spot to be in

Saw that too, FRS. Wondered the same thing. RI is the Ocean State and they're close to Newport the sailing Capital so.......??

Not all wins are pretty. I just happy to win. I have said this before Albany is not a team to sleep on. When some things are off, you on the road and come away the victorious is a good sign of a champion. I am just glad they out the way. Road going to be bumpy for the next few weeks. GO SPIDERS!

Good grief, Rick. Try being a Tribe or Blue Hen fan this year. We still have both of them left to play plus Elon, by the way.

We have now beaten uva on the road,a ranked Colgate team at home, and a previously undefeated team ranked 16 on their homecoming. Making it even more impressive is the fact that we have won our last two games with our opponent coming off a bye week. I don't think we are playing our best, but pretty impressive wins if you ask me. And the best part about it is that our best football is still ahead of us.

Nova is coming off a bye week too when we meet them next week. They hosted and beat Rhody 35-0 in a snoozer.Caught glimpses of the game on SNY.Hard to tell if Nova is really good because URI is just plain awful.

Really not sure how the scheduling powers that be gave us three straight bye week opponents like that.

Elon is coming off a bye when we play them in two weeks, as well. This is a very tough stretch of schedule.

Here's a helpful hint: URI is the state university. Google the state flag.

One reality check, Colgate is now 1-4, we have not played well after the UVA game, reason? players not emotional up? team not prepared? coaches not preparing them? I don't know but we'd better figure it out.Nova, (Elon away) then JMU is a tough schedule (thank goodness we have a week off before JMU)

You're right Mo, I've got Tribe friends, and they're really crying! I don't expect us to dominate every week, but it would be nice to dominate at least once so I don't have to keep running to the bathroom to throw up.

I have not seen many FCS teams that don't have flaws, we're 5-1 with room to grow. We have not played a real good game since UVA, it took that to win in a dominate style. But we are 5-1, enjoy it. On to the Talleycats, lets send him out with another loss to our Spiders!

I think the near flawless performance at UVA showed a glimpse as to how good this team can be, and the "drop off" since then has been slightly disappointing.

Good coaches reevaluate and are flexible in regards to schemes based on the players available to play. Coache Rocco has always had teams that get better as we get deeper into the year. I have faith he will have his coordinators adjust their schemes to accomodate our players' skill sets the next three weeks.

I have to assume you can't just replace both coordinators and expect things to be smooth sailing every week. Probably still some growing pains there.
