Update from Newark

I was impressed with their AD, Christine Rawak, who came from Michigan. I can see coaches wanting to work with her. As to Danny, he seems to present himself pretty much as the same person he was at UR. He had also had a "glazed-eye" appearance when speaking in public or before the camera which I attribute to his public speaking persona. Many adopt a more detached approach when addressing an audience of more than one or two persons or when on camera. I think that his persona suggests an air of intensity rather than an appearance of being "drugged." I doubt that he comes across the same way in personal conversations. I had a few professors at UR like this, though they usually did not display their public persona as an air of "intensity," which I would have considered weird. However, I do not see it as unusual or strange in the world of competitive sports.

I suspect that Coach Rocco will be successful at Delaware and as long as we continue to beat them, I will continue to wish him well. If successful, he will remain at Delaware for four or five years and then move on. Such is his nature as demonstrated by his past. I think that Danny Rocco thrives on new and different challenges and four to five years creates about as much moss as he can gather before experiencing a very strong urge to move on, regardless of where he is at the time. I would be very surprised if the length of his stay at Delaware proves differently.

I find it somewhat ironic that he has readopted the word "vision," a word he disavowed at UR as an inappropriate word to use in describing one of the major motives for his move. However, it really does not matter which word(s) he chooses because once we understand his nature, we understand the reasons behind his move.

I also think his answer shows how methodical he is (good and bad) as he will focus on the "process and not the event".

I would love a total beat down of Danny. It would be great to have half a quarter to celebrate in Delaware Stadium as Hen fans head for the exit.

You come across to me as a "wise sage".

well, not going so far as to describe little i as wise or a sage (reserved for old people) but he did mirror my thoughts which must scare the crap out of him.

He made one point that none of you have touched on. He remarked how much he noticed the enthusiasm
of the fan base when we played there. I think it may have been an annoyance to him, and most of us on
this board, how unenthusiastic our fans can be. I have sat at many games where the crowd is half gone
before the end of the third quarter.
Which leads to the question-"why the hell did you come in the first place?"
Yes, we have our great fans like Mojo, but then we have those that you just wonder what is
their problem?

Know I'm in the minority and love how Robbins stadium is designed, but nothing beats games at city stadium. Atmosphere for those games were so much better because locals would attend. It wasn't perfect but it was always fun.

Our 07-09 runs are comprable to our 14-16 runs but not when you consider crowds and atmosphere.

I agree I love Robins stadium but City stadium is sentamental to me. That's where I started going to games with my dad at about the age of or 7 and where I developed my deep love for the game of football and the Spiders. So many great memories in that place. Still haven't gone back after the app state loss and I remember crying my eyes out after that game.

I remember Barry Redden dropping about 250 on Va Tech in the rain during the 80's. Also when it was announced that Leland Melvin was flying overhead in the Shuttle during the game.
