Toledo 12/11

Look I'm happy we won but that doesn't mean you can't be critical of the obvious flaws in the program. I don't support a billboard but I do support change. This win isn't going to springboard us to anywhere. We still have the same flaws that aren't being dealt with.
That's your opinion, I respect it but it's not mines.

I will happily eat crow on this one. Have we ever come back from a19-point second half deficit to win a game? Stunning. And then the refs tried to take it away with that absurd no call in the obvious back court. Kudos to Gilyard. A perfect night for him and one he will remember forever.

Can we talk about toledo not shaking hands after the game? What was that? Did the coaches shake hands at least? I was not paying attention and only saw their players walking off and Burton trying to get their attention near the tunnel to shake their hands. A few did but I think some totally ignored him. Classless.

Is that not reviewable? It was under two minutes. I was surprised they didn’t go to the monitor.

Agreed. No idea why they didn't. I mean there were no spiders anywhere near the ball when the guy threw it. Just a completely inexcusable call.

No back court call and traveling. You miss two easy ones. We somehow beat that call. It was shocking to see a 19 point turn around. Seeing the 14-0 lead by Toledo was forgettable. It was the best of times and worst of times.

Particularly odd since both coaches talked about adding this series given how much they liked playing each other in the NIT.
I would just blame Covid protocols if I were the Toledo coach

Yeah wasn’t sure what was going on but saw Tyler also trying to shake hands

Refs did all they could to help Toledo.

Coaches did not shake hands. Mooney was headed that way and Toledo coach told his kids to walk down the middle of the court and go out under the basket. It was weird.

I don't recall ever seeing in person a team leave without shaking hands. And it's not like there was animosity during the game between the teams, at least not that was apparent. Very odd.

The lack of shaking hands reminds me of DETROIT BASKETBALL. or at least the most despised player ever Isiah Thomas.
I guess the Toledo coach was so embarrassed that his team choked soooo badly that they out choked even Chris Mooney. Lowly feeling.

Thank goodness Nick was on tonight. Definitely needed his 3s and rebounding. Looked at the box and saw he only had 5 boards, but it seemed like more. He was definitely giving it his all and was gassed.

As far as Cayo goes, who usually works with the bigs? Maybe one of the assistants that left had that role last year? He was actually getting coaching from the stands, which I thought was really weird.

Cayo, Sal and Grace could not catch an inside the paint pass to save their ass.

I can tell you what I saw…at the end the cheerleaders ran on court along with our bench. Toledos coach motioned for his guys to go on out as they were looking for guidance. Guys from Toledo did acknowledge our guys with a few head nods. Tyler did go to shake hands with them some did and some didn't. As far as calling them thugs(not sure who it was) as someone did, that’s a little out of pocket and unnecessary.

Couldn't exactly tell from the broadcast, but maybe because our guys were celebrating on the court, the Toledo coach didn't want his guys standing around waiting and watching us enjoy the win. Just a guess, because there didn't seem to be anything else specific that might have warranted it.

That is very much what it looked like from court side

Watching the replay, Jacob looked pretty pissed that Toledo wasn't shaking hands. I don't really buy the explanation that there was too much happening on the court. That lasted like 10 seconds, no different from the end of any exciting game. Our guys were all lined up after that, waiting to shake hands. Bush league by Toledo.

We didn’t either until around 530 when he called. Keep him in your 🙏🏼 He’s taking it hard…but we don’t know anything yet. So 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Really sorry to hear this. He looks so promising. Hopefully, he can recover from these injuries and get back out there. Keep his head up. He is young and has a lot of great basketball ahead of him.
