Mooney’s decisions about when to take timeouts has been a huge criticism. Doesnt call to stop other teams runs and calls them when we are on a roll. This year i can recall two times when we had good leads after half and let the opposing team go on a run to start the second half and not call TO until the entire lead is lost.
Today in Kansas game against Iona, they were up 15 at half… Iona scored first 5 straight points to start second half and Self immediately called TO. Its coaching 101.
Our genius coach thinks that he reinvents the wheel and knows more than coaches 10x his level.
Not calling TO’s as your teams lead evaporates at light speed is complete lunacy as a basketball coach.

I think Mooney is so smart, he feels compassion and calls a timeout to stop our run out of pity to the other team.

Timeouts aren't important in the Mooney playbook. Just get it close and pray for a win.
