Throw Back Tournament Team?

Cline looks like a different person physically. He appears to really have committed himself to the gym.

i remember when Painter takes Purdue as coach. I am dreaming now of Coach finish the contract with peace, hires TJ for assistant one year and then gives him keys with a smile. This would make me very happy.

Went to the Nationals game Thursday night, watched them blow another 9th inning lead. They've now had 23 blown saves in a little over 100 games and lead the majors.

Got me wondering if Mooney is moonlighting as the Nats bullpen coach...

:) Probably not, but the disease is the same.

Just got home. Damn, that was fun. Would love to see a healthy Darrius and someone like Fore as a defensive specialist. K0 as a second PG?

As an aside, Kevin Steenberge has been asked to play for Memphis' team next year, so he may be playing as well.

Def needed another Kendall out there. Also someone needed to cover that Bob Marley PG on team DRC, we left him way open too much at the end. Another thing that hurt was watching Malcolm Bernard play. He would of absolutely put us in the NCAAs if we had him TJ and SDJ senior year. Bring back Tony Dobbins!!!

Looking over on VDU board it doesn’t look like they’ll host or have a team next year. Maybe we can pick up the slack and host?

Rick almost amazing they are in it with those results. But hey the new look bullpen after trade deadline came through in their first game! Bullpen is better but still pretty bad. Important rest of road trip ahead.

I thought that as well. If VCU isn't hosting and we field a team, why don't we host. It would would be great PR having the Robins Center on the ESPN platform over the summer. Not sure of the financials if we would have to pay to host or not, or if we get a cut of the ticket revenue. Would be curious to know those details.

I can assure you we will not host. Based off personal conversations with admin about this very topic.
Agreed, I don't feel like that's UR's style. They just don't seem to see much value in that in spite of having the facilit(ies) to do so.

Don't worry we will beat both Boston College and Vanderbilt this year. But still miss the big dance.

Care to elaborate on any of the rationale behind this.

I didn't ask any follow ups, just had inquired if there would be any interest in hosting the tournament in the future.

I'm not sure what limitations there may be on using the RC for non-sporting events. I know we have severely limiting SUP for Robins Stadium. I know we've done some Special Olympics work and have had some concerts but can't remember the RC being used for much outside UR Athletics.

Thx.

UR doesn't seem interested in using the RC as a multi-purpose venue.

I remember the Dave Matthews Band played a free show in there in 1993, but that might have been moved inside for weather?
Of course there was the Presidential Debate in 1992, when the moderator famously neglected to thank UR for hosting.

It would be a great venue for for VHSL championships, as would Robins Stadium.

It could be a reason the arena is in pretty good shape. Even before the renovation the building had good bones and the seats weren't worn out. It was just dated. The Siegel Center is used for everything under the sun and it shows.

Agreed. Unless our agreement with the surrounding neighborhood prevents it, we should bid for the high school championships. In football, the crowd looks silly at Williams Stadium or Scott Stadium. A couple of extra basketball games isn't going to hurt the RC.

You get a bunch of HS kids on campus, it kind of sells itself.
