Joey Rodrequez, final four hero of VCU, recently lost his 13 yo son, Jaylen Martinez, to accidental gunfire.

Joey Rodrequez, final four hero of VCU, recently lost his 13 yo son, Jaylen Martinez, to accidental gunfire.

This is a brutal tragedy. Another young rising star lost in an accident involving guns. I can't imagine the pain that Joey and Jaylen's mother are going through.

Apparently, he was visiting a friend's house when it occurred. While in a home, guns should be locked in a tamper proof safe. Only in emergencies should a gun be removed from a safe. Also, children should never be allowed to access guns without adult supervision. And adults should teach children about gun safety.
It starts at home.
