Surprise suprise

Free safety DeAndre Houston-Carson of William and Mary finished second in the voting. That's even more stupid.

If someone from UR wins next season,Danny should stiff those clowns and boycott the whole group.Right up there with the FIFA guys.

Jacobi should just take this as even more motivation to run rough shod over the Redbirds and prove who's the best player right now in VA and maybe the nation. He's playing and those other 2 guys are sitting at home. Guess these stupid voters forgot that who's still in the mix wins out over those who are "losers".

Vad Lee is a very good player. But if you miss 40% of your team's games, how the hell can you be the best player in the state?? Total garbage.

Big enough snub to provide little extra motivation to jacobi and entire team, especially o-line.

Large and state school bias with the voters comes through again -- Vad Lee winning doesn't shock me even though I think it was wrong, BUT for Jacobi to come in 3rd in the balloting -- insane

Maybe they thought we were not respecting them because we were headed to Illinois and not delaying our trip so we could represent at their meal -- some "punishment"

never lose sleep over a beauty contest, this is teeney-weeney compared to beating vad and the pukes in the chicken house and also be playing a game this weekend. at least these whackos did not find a way to give it to uva or tech, as usual.

Who cares what those bias clowns think. They'd vote for Mo Allie Cox for football player of the year before Jacobi. I'm sure Jacobi would rather still be playing anyway.

im embarrassed for the local media. Yet another example that they are bush league.

Consolation is we're still playing and Vad's teams got knocked out in their first playoff game the last 2 seasons. That's the real important thing, not individual stats, which I guess this award is based on.

Jacobi was the most important/valuable player on a team that's in the final 8. Vad played 8 games of a 12 game season and put up a lot of fantasy stats.

Listened to the Vad interview this AM (I know he is a JMU guy, but well spoken, humble kid). At any rate, he was asked if he expected to be even nominated for Dudley after getting hurt. His answer "No".

Much like Briante winning Defensive player of the year award last year, seemed like the voters made this some type of lifetime achievement award, versus best player in the state in 2015.

Wait, no write in votes for Michael Brewer? I wonder how many of the voters knew that Vad missed half the season or just voted "for the guy who won last year".

Briante Weber finished 4th and Shaka runner up for coach of the year. Our media is a joke when they write, speak or vote.

I believe the Dudley award originated in 1990 and as far as I can remember we have only had one winner (Marc Megna in 1998). Let me know if there is someone I am omitting. Even in the 2008 Title season Rodney Landers won the award.

Still prefer to be where we are (still playing) but the voting for this thing is strange.

Who votes in this thing? I'm guessing based on results - Big Al?

Jacobi's last 6 games haven't been bad...172 Carries for 1,070 Yds (6.22) and 13 TDs

In case any of the voters were interested.

I was listening to Wes McElroy this morning, and he mentioned that the votes were due in last Friday. He is one of the voters and he voted for Vad.

I'm not defending the vote at all, but I think I may understand some of the issue. I think many of us may have taking for granted the season brian brown is having. It's very very good. And he's a Richmond kid. And folks love QBs so KL may even get some votes. If those 2 are getting any looks, that takes away from Jacobi. Add in that he isn't a FBS transfer, and Vad is the first 2 time winner, and you can see how it happens. Not saying it is right, just saying I understand how it happened.

Let's face it- most of these guys do not like UR. They would pick anyone else than a richmond player. I am surprised that UR even had a player in the mix.

What a joke. I'd love to hear the explanations / justifications from those who voted. I'm really curious of their rationalization. Vad - last year...yes; this year - no way.

Burton said on his show today that he voted Jacobi #1. McElroy said (link above) that he voted for Lee.

I can't follow that logic/excuse at all "not an FBS transfer?" Two other UR players having a good year?

Clearly I disagree with the voting logic, but I expect most voters to automatically give a FBS transfer more respect than an FCS recruit. These guys cover FBS schools and so a UVA writer is more likely to be impressed with a guy that started in the ACC. And I do think that Brown got some votes by the Richmond media and therefore stole some that may have gone to Green.

All in all, my point was about as well made as our regular media. And it doesn't matter. I'm moving on to ISU.

Is that serious?

Yeah. Burton listed the voting results and who received first place votes briefly on his show yesterday. Just goes to show you that the local media will look for any excuse to vote for a Tech or UVA guy and in a down year for those two programs will just pick the most recognizable name (In this case, last year's winner: Vad.).

I know some Tech folks were campaigning for their wr, who is a very good player but has less than 1000 yards receiving on the season.
