My parents are wrapping up a month of being Houston citizens (temporary). They spent the day in Austin yesterday and said you could keep Houston after that side trip.

A, take this to mean that your mom was in town for treatment? is she doing OK. Austin is a great place though has grown so fast recently, has taken on more traffic and lost their smallish town personality. hope all is well with your folks and your family there in richmond.
Yeah, spent a month in the Republic. Overall, she's comfortable, which is all we can ask for.
They told me an interesting story about the roads in Houston. Apparently they have no drainage system? They said that there was an intense rain last week and they went out after it and roads were shut down everywhere because of flash flooding.

A, just like new orleans, if you receive a very heavy rain in houston, think we got 5 inches over a few hours, you do not go out and drive anywhere or face getting stuck in water backup. it recedes pretty quickly but better stay home. the newer areas build water retention pits for the runoff but some of the older parts of town are just stuck. sorry that your mom has had such a tough fight but she has been fighting and that is good. A, also meant to add that, we have room if they need it and they would be welcome and we could talk about you.....lol
