Shout out for TJ Cline

been playing well as of late, wish he had more support

While I did not watch the game, my son told me that TJ did not play defense. I assured him with TJ that it was not because of a lack of effort. Love TJ's fire and enthusiasm. OSC

The offense runs through him, and there is a reason for that. Really talented player, & his court smarts are apparent.

Played well and offense and defense. And unstoppable on inbounds plays...our best weapon. He is special and a real leader now and in the future.

I love tj cline. like everyone on the team he is slow defensively. Sadly that will hurt him at the nexr level

Someone with nothing else to do, please tally the points that TJ has scored this year on in-bounds plays.Gotta be at least 40-50 points

What kills me is that these "Student Athletes" know it's coming and aren't smart enough to stop it.

It doesn't kill me I love the fact that he is smart enough to make it work so often, and when teams really focus on him they leave someone else wide open

TJ is a great player for us, you may be right in your assessment, but I believe if he were the perfect player he would be playing at Duke or some other perennial top ten

Only 14 post, so back to the top come on posters give him his due. I would bet his Mom reads this board. Make her proud of her son on a dismal season.

John Schweitz had the same problem it can be improved but only to a certain extent. John had a short NBA career and is now coaching. By looking at the player videos TJ wears a weight vest and seems to be focus on improving his physicial skills. John did a lot of jump roping and other drills to improve his foot quickness ultimate it was his shooting skills that got him a shot in the pros.

No doubt TJ will be honored to be compared to John Schweitz who played for the Celtics. TJ is a "BASKETBALL PLAYER", so glad we have him. He will be a huge help teaching the young guys already here and the ones coming in. Great role model for all of them. He will make an excellent coach after he takes his playing career as far as he can go.

Two things I like the most, his passion, and the fact that he actually looks like he's having FUN when he plays. One thing I don't get has been the relentless string of "phantom" fouls called on TJ. It seems to happen every game, he gets called for a foul and the replay shows he never touched the guy. I know he is often guilty of ticy-tacy fouls, but it seems every game he gets at least one call that leaves me scratching my head. It's cost him a lot of playing time (and us a lot of points), because Mooney is lurking with the hook. As usual, I'm too lazy to look it up, but I only remember one game this year that he actually fouled out. My battle cry last year was always " 5 fouls or 30 minutes, whichever comes first" because Mooney would bench him for an early foul, TJ would finish with 2 maybe 3 fouls and 18-22 minutes.
I just love watching the guy.....

I've shown my kids more TJ highlights than any other. he's the guy I want them to strive to play like with the effort, the passion, the skills, the intensity, and the joy he has for the game. there have been a lot of amazing Spiders to call my favorite from Kendall to KA all the way back to JNew for me, but this kid's my #1. so glad he has another year.

TJ has actually cut down on his "phantom calls" recently. He was getting those calls against him because he was putting his hands on the defensive player more than he should. He also has developed a little Dan Geriot like quality of picking up offensive fouls by some great stagecraft. He wasn't getting those earlier this year either but has perfected time and place to do that. High IQ player in some many ways.

Excellent Spidernan

How angry will people be when Mooney picks up TJ as an assistant in a few years? He gets a ton of flack for bringing in his former players.

As he should; you don't get better by hiring a bunch of people who agree with you and who have learned from you. But I do think TJ would make a great coach.

My two-year-old can identify TJ and and "#10" by sight and is a huge fan.

No doubt TJ would make a great coach. Not sure if he would ever work for Mooney.

Bob just said that we're something like 73 for 117 on inbounds plays this year and are averaging 1.2 points per inbounds play, which is #1 in the nation. Not bad!

TJ has the "want to." He also has skills. We need him big time to break in the freshmen next year. Friend of mine heard Buckingham and Sherod talking at a game a couple of weeks ago when we lost the lead, and they said, "We we get here next year, that sh&*^t is going to stop."

TJ - you are appreciated more than you realize. And we love you because you are a class act.

I don't think hiring former players as coaches is bad, it shows loyalty and breaking into
the coaching ranks is never easy. A new assistant is learning and will always start at the
bottom: Peter Thomas, Ryan Butler, Smitty, Will Wade!

TJ will be on the fast track. He's got the ability, pedigree and connections. Not many have all 3,only the desire. After a likely short playing stint in Europe he'll be back on the sidelines with a coat, tie and clipboard in the U.S.of A.

Not a bad thing when it's one. But when your staff is a revolving door of former players and guys who basically have only coached under you, then I have a problem with it. I think we could argue that Mooney's best recruits came from Hartman, who had never worked for him before or played for or with him; and Lewis, who fits the same bill.

Would love to see TJ in the RC as HC someday. Could you imagine him recruiting?? Parents and players would love him.

Ken Atkinson was quite a floor leader, fiery and would love to see him on the bench and
bet he would make a heck of a recruiter.
