(off-topic, but hoping you’ll give me the benefit of the doubt on this one)

A 5’7”-ish 19-year-old girl—who inherited roughly the same level of basketball talent as her dad—is headed to UR. After a solid year at CofC where she continued to do well academically, she’s ready for new challenges in the classroom and happy to be close to home for the rest of her college years.

Dad had a real tough time her senior year when the UR offer didn’t come—but he’s grinning now that she’s chosen Richmond over a few other VA schools in the ACC, Colonial, and Sunbelt in the transfer portal. I’d like to think my grandfather, a Richmond College grad from the late 1920s, is smiling too.

Thankfully, Section 9 isn’t far from the student section—wouldn’t be surprised if she still ends up sitting with me for a few games.

That's the kind of news that makes every parent (especially a dad) of a daughter very happy to hear...............Section 9 sharing the happiness with you! Only caveat is the need to give a college student daughter "space" during her college years - speaking from experience! And yes your grandfather has to be thrilled ..............a century later his granddaughter will be walking the same paths.................

I'm withholding judgment on this one. I'd have to see the transcript from CofC to comment fully, though I understand we've pulled some academic talent from that part of the country in the past. Personally, I would have liked to see a few more transfer-downs from Harvard, Cal and Michigan, but we have had some success with these transfer-ups, too. A lot of it will depend upon how effectively the [English/science/polisci/business/leadership] professors are able to adapt to her strengths and enhance them to the benefit of their program and the school. Curious which one took the lead on recruiting here and whether we got the commitment right away?

(Congrats Sec. 9!)

That is a wonderful feeling- 100 years later. My grandmother also graduated in the '20s.

Hopefully sec9 gets good neighbors
"Will you be my neighbor ? " - yeah the ironic thing is that we are actually under contract and moving two blocks from our current house and this house is sort of in the middle between current and future house. Our own house won't go on the market until July most likely so hoping there is an escalated bidding war for this one before then since who wouldn't want the honor of living in the home of a former VCU coach.
