More than 20-year season ticket holder who gave mine up last season. I told the athletic department that I did not renew because the product was well below expectation. I also voiced that I would not renew until a new coach was in place. With the deadline (8/9) for season ticket renewal fast approaching, I'm interested to know if any long time season ticket holders are not renewing this year and, if so, why not....thanks!
Maybe the stuff is more potent this time?I'm like an addict that needs a fix. I renewed. Although, it didn't make me feel particularly good.
Let us hope.Maybe the stuff is more potent this time?
Smart play 2K. I wonder how many others came to the realization last year that you can pick up a $5 ticket to pretty much any game while taking your kids for free and you can make that call on whether you want to go on game day.I did not renew. Generally apathetic with the whole of our revenue sports operation. Sure I'll go to some games and just take advantage of the kids club and discounts on seats that are seem to be available most, if not all, games.
I plan to stay home and watch that new Kevin Bacon show.
Thanks for sharing your plans and feelings on this. I agree with most everything posted. After much thought I decided to renew today at the last hour for the singular reason of enjoying the experience of coming to games with son and grandson (oh yeah, wife too). Thanks again and wishing for an unexpected turnaround. With the deadline (8/9) for season ticket renewal fast approaching, I'm interested to know if any long time season ticket holders are not renewing this year and, if so, why not....thanks!
Season tickets appear to the be the same price as last year. One thing to keep in mind is that the tax laws recently changed where you can no longer deduct contributions tied to seating for athletic events. To offset lost revenue U of R has raised ticket prices and is making people pay separately for parking. This should result in potentially getting better seating and parking. If you give up your season seats and buy them again in a few years you will be at the end of the line for seating priority.
It might depend on the level of seating. I am pretty sure my went up, in addition to having to pay for parking.Season tickets appear to the be the same price as last year.

This is part of the reason I renewed. I am in the same seat I was in my freshman year (November 1982). With my parents then, not with the student section. One thing to keep in mind is that the tax laws recently changed where you can no longer deduct contributions tied to seating for athletic events. We deserve what we get at this point. There's zero motivation for the administration to care about winning when everyone shows up no matter what.Got my renewal taken care of today. Was informed renewal rates slated to be on par with previous years.

Better to watch on DirectTV sports package. Why drive or pay? I don't pay for tickets except for a few select games for our guys. I can watch every single game here in Jersey with my package. I go when I have a bunch of guys to hang with in Philly for the weekend or if we're at Fordham or Barclays. I get around 10 games live and enjoy the rest after work in front of my large screen. I just might pay for tix at the Stu if I were in RVA, but the cost is prohibitive even for locals. Would rather get single game tix. Season tixs are a racket in every sport. It might depend on the level of seating. I am pretty sure my went up, in addition to having to pay for parking.
I'd say it's indisputable that the administration doesn't care about winning, however you want to look at it. It failed to admit several guys who would have helped us win and who would have been admitted at every other school in the league. It also paid an exorbitant sum of money to a coach and then watched him miss eight NCAAs in a row without changing anything, something only one other school in the nation at a comparable level has allowed to happen with its coach during the same time.My guess is the same amount of people are renewing because there is optimism with this season. Also, it can't hurt that we have really good guys on the team that are easy to support and cheer for. It is your opinion that the administration does not care about winning because they did not fire the coach. That is your opinion and that is fine. I'm sure it is shared by others. However, you can also look at it by saying the administration feels like our coach gives us the best chance to win this season so therefore we kept him.
I don't think our fans will renew at the same rate next year if we have another losing season but I don't think we will get to find out if that is true. I also don't think our administration would be too thrilled with three straight losing seasons, and I don't think our coach could survive that. You think the administration does not care about winning. I think they do. We can just disagree.

No program that values winning would have done either of those things.
That 10 year contract was idiotic. Demotivated moon man. What a waste of time. But, what about paying so much money for your coach after back-to-back tourneys? Doesn't that show that winning matters? Can't just pick and choose which events help your argument while ignoring ones that hurt it. It is fair for you to have this opinion, but it is certainly not indisputable.
Given the misdirections employed by AD whether on radio, email or message board I would not blindly take it as gospel.
Again, they can want to win and still make a variety of decisions that aren’t aligned with that intent. So that is perhaps their intent but they aren’t fully committed? It’s hard to say definitively either way, there are lots of examples supporting both narratives. This is ridiculous.
I’d bet we all have alumni friends, well most of us, that are very financially
successful. I know a couple that donate a fair amount of money to the school and
are huge supporters of the Spiders. They also have absolutely no interest in being
on this board. Not their thing.
If they thought the administration wasn’t interested in winning they would make a lot
of noice, and they would be heard.
I enjoy being on this board, but some of the naive and in some way narcissistic thoughts
are just plane silly.
