Disagree. You play hard on the court and then win or lose you go over and shake hands with your opponent. All of the players usually shake hands or bump fists at the beginning of the game with the officials and often the other team (we did it last night). It reinforces a message that while you battle on the court, you also respect your opponent. Manufactured, tradition, or whatever, if we didn't do it, I think there would be a lot more disrespectful plays on the court .Originally posted by WebSpinner:
am not a fan of this contrived, mandated, teams line up and shake hands post game, whether football or basketball. like the guys doing it on their own but not the fact that they are forced to in a line. that is not sportsmanship, that is someone's idea of "just getting along" and not what it is about.
