Robin's Center experience

I have a more liberal view of senior night. You should be honored by a team (once for each team) if it’s either a) getting a degree that year or b) the last year you are eligible to play with that team. So getting 2 senior nights is fine. Especially for players from Ivy that don’t allow grad students. I would not give senior nights to say a superstar freshman who is going to go pro after a year. But I would give it to a junior who has enough credits to graduate and then either transfers or goes pro.
agreed. and for the most part this is the last year of the grad transfers anyway.
it would be weird and unnecessary to exclude Dusan and B Artis and D'Entremont from senior night. they're graduating ... granted with grad degrees.

do we even offer 1 year grad programs?

Yes and no.
Last year of Grad.
But wouldn’t be surprised if the NCAA allows 12 seasons of eligibility with no credit requirement per semester and unlimited transfers…

It wasn't that long ago when game entertainment was actually entertaining. Half court shots during time outs, tee shirt giveaways, dropping teddy bears wearing parachutes from the ceiling, cheerleaders throwing sub sandwiches to the crowd, gorilla's dunking basketballs, THE BLACK WIDDOW....
What in the world has happened? Don't dare say it's about money (2.4 bil endowment). And we had all of this even when we had lousy teams.

There's just no life in the program anymore. Ironic how so much of this has happened since Hardt-on showed up.

Taking time out to present the ball to the player is unnecessary in my opinion as well if the points came from playing with team(s) other than UR. As a “fan” do I care how many points a player scored at other schools? If the player has 995 points when he comes to UR and goes over 1000 in game 1, do I even know anything other than his name at that point? It is nice to be recognized, but seems like it would be just as appropriate if the ball was given to the player at a team meeting of some sort. Plus, these guys are getting paid to play basketball now. I’m sure the amount of their NIL payments are top of mind.

All that being said, it is weird that the mascot made the presentation. Maybe the coach that recruited the player would be the right guy if such a gesture is necessary.
Gonna jump in here days late. Mentioned this before, but ran into WebstUR taking a break on a hot football game afternoon last season Head gear off. Said he was filling in for a friend that he was actually a VCU student. Incredible. You can't make this stuff up.

At least it was at a football game not a basketball game…

Are you effing kidding us? He couldn't find a Richmond student to fill in? The real Webster should be shot and then dismissed from school.
Rick, exactly my thought. On a leafy campus with 3,000 folks about, you couldn't find a WebstUR backup?

In fairness, VCU guy did a great job, was involved, energetic and kid friendly. We spoke for quite a while, just found it surreal that our mascot was from an arch rival. Says something about our school that is uncomfortable to me.

The multishot t-shirt cannon thing was always a good time but now that you mention these things I am not sure if I have seen it at all this season, maybe once or twice 🤷‍♂️

Random thought re student attendance. Why not offer free latest I phones based on a student's attendance at season's end? Clocked in and out. More game time, better odds of winning. Second, third prizes could be free access to paywall media sites for a year. Let's try something different. If it doesn't work, ditch it.

Lets be positive, would be enticing rather than bribing folks (spin}, but we need the youthful exuberance of students to enhance game experience. If you can get them there, they feed on their own energy.

Its jjust very interesting how we have charter flights, pay millions for coach, new practice facility, yet run so many parts of the operation like a D3 program, and have no expectations for sustained success. Wild that we seem to have about a 30 percent or more error rate on communications and have to delete tweets and everything else. Wild.
