I have long been an avid supporter of Mooney, if anyone has time they can look up my posts going years back supporting him - even amid certain posters adamantly disagreeing. My support eroded the last few years as I see no ability to adapt strategies, lack of fire, inability to maintain energy and success on the recruiting trail (can't take classes off), and many other things mentioned on here. I don't hate or even dislike the guy. I just am losing interest week by week and year by year. If he does leave or is asked to leave after this year, this will obviously be a very critical hire. Wrong guy and we are staring at 12 years and no NCAA's - or more. Basically a kick sending our bball program into purgatory for the foreseeable future. I hope Hardt is up to the task and has good support in this decision - if it happens.

I have long been a supporter of hiring a head coach that has had success as a head coach - at lower levels and been able to move up levels and maintain success - a la John Beilein. Or guys that are at a lower level and can own their conference - like Becker at Vermont. I have not been really excited about hiring the high level asst. that has never been a head coach. Yahoo sports did put out this list which I find interesting.

Will be very interesting to see what happens this off season. I am hoping to have reason to be excited about Spiders basketball again, but doubtful.

Ron Sanchez at UVA. I don't know enough about him but that makes a lot of sense geographically and system wise.

And I am with you, my enthusiasm for Spider hoops just drains every single day. I guess it is akin to Redskins fan having Dan Snyder as their owner and Allen as their GM. You know your team could be so much better except the people calling the shots lack the know with all to get you there. Stir and repeat, year after year after year.

Yes, I am Rams fan (LA, and vcu by the way - they have gone into nosedive since my fandom oddly??) - and I have for years been mesmerized by the Jeff Fisher blank stare.

I do like the idea of Jeff Sanchez because of system. Xavier and UVA have been very successful running the pack line defense. You still need players but would think we could have an advantage with it.

I do think Becker makes a lot of sense. He's spent a lot of time in D.C., so geographically we're probably a got. He makes $300k a year. We could double that and still pay him less than half what Mooney makes. I don't know if he will have a ton of P5 offers or not, but he strikes me as the type of guy who would be a natural fit here.

I like Becker a lot as a potential next coach. Not as big on the UVA assistant because I really don't want to see us play the boring style that they play. However if it brings us a bunch of wins I don't really care.

If this next hire is not good, we will be mired in this mediocrity for a long long time. I know most of us (like me) are already defeated and barely care, but I am guessing (like me) you still have some fight in you. Who can set up a conference call with Hardt and Queally?

LeMoyne is 21-6 this season. Defeated Siena in an exhibition in its only game against a D1 opponent.

He would have some growing pains, and if he succeeded we surely would lose him. That would be a good problem to have, IMHO.

Hardt did hire the current Bucknell coach from D3 Randy-Mac. However, he had assisted there before and was not an unknown quality.

Yup and this is why I’m glad no one on here is a major decision maker in our AD. Go back and look at the mid season replacement suggestions our posters made and see how many of those teams are currently doing.

I hate losing. Lord knows hell i drove up to witness that game today. I’ll probably go to Mason too. I think I hate seeing irrational posts more (both positive and negative) where everything is fine or everything is the end of the world. We’re all frustrated and I suppose I should utilize the ignore button more often. I just LOL at some of the stuff put on here sometimes.
