Rebounds

there has been a lot of discussion and analysis of our rebounding challenges...

obviously we successfully competed on the boards in both of these games...did we change our technique, strategy etc?

or did we just want to go get the ball more?...many feel rebounding is more effort and desire than technique...we showed it in Vegas..

hoping we bring some of it home...

If you would have given my 50:1 odds that we would have outrebounded both Cal and WVU, I would have laughed in your face. And yes, I think we just wanted it more.

I don't see significant changes in our technique except I don't see us turning to run down the floor on the shot release. I do see more aggression and attacking the rebounds

Marshall has saved our bacon on a number of occasions with his follow tap-ins around the basket. He's a pretty smooth player out there and offers a few dimensions.

We still never box out, but Terry is now rebounding like he should have for 4 years and Marshall hasn't learned that we don't rebound yet. Fore can jump and will be a decent rebounder. Davis has always rebounded nicely. DT doesn't realize he has two opposing hands yet. Cline can rebound within a two foot radius. Glad to see we are at least trying the past two or three games.

Did notice that Cal did a lot of the take a shot and then turn and run down the floor...that assisted our rebounding effort............and we were definitely looking to grab the rebounds...............

i choose B. Great effort on the boards

If we can win the rebounding battle again tonight, it will go a long way towards sealing a W. Florida has only ONE "real" rebounder, and he is very tough (the freshman center). If we can box him out, get him in foul trouble, or just keep him out of position, we can out-rebound Florida too.

It would also be terrific for our foul shooting to continue where we left off in the Cal game. And, there is a silver lining here because even if DT were to have an "off" night at the line (which he won't), he will have trouble matching DeAndre Jordan's game yesterday, where he hit 12 of 34 foul shots. It is likely a record! We are talking a pro, who makes over 10-mil a year, and he hit about 35%, of 34 shots! My bet is that all of our guys would make DeAndre look bad in a free-throw shooting contest. Let's just remember the end of the Cal game, and the "focus" we had at the line, and we will be fine!
