Really? what was the date that became effective?
Or did I oversleep and it is 2023?
That sounds like the same claim that was made about Khwan and he ended up on an NCAA tournament P6 team. I expect a variety of programs will keep an eye on him, particularly if he keeps his off court problems clean.I don't see him helping a P6 much. At his size, he
can't handle or shoot well enough. He is a great athlete, and that should help him this year, like it helped him playing for us, but I would be shocked if he ends up helping a P6 team.

He'd have to produce a solid season this year though to show potential suitors that he can contribute at that level.
The court battles with the NCAA will be long and arduous before this really takes effect.Technically - now that Buck is an NCAA Athlete is California - he can get money for his likeness. If Buck wants to do a commercial for the car dealer who is an alumni of the school or use his image for flyers, etc - Buck can get paid for that and by law the school can't punish him.

He is expected to transfer to Bama and replace their graduating tight end. Tight ends don't shoot or have to handle the ball all that much.I don't see him helping a P6 much. At his size, he

Buck was named preseason 1st team for a conference he has yet to even suit up for yet. He was A-10 rookie of the year.Yep. I guess it could happen. Difference in Khwan is he could handle the ball better. But, you are right. I should not count Buck out yet. Only takes 1 team out if 60 some to want him.
where did you see that?Buck was named preseason 1st team for a conference he has yet to even suit up for yet. He was A-10 rookie of the year.
Maybe he saw it on post #34where did you see that?

wow. what the heck is going on here? is Demonte preseason all something or not?Maybe he saw it on post #34
It is effective right now! It was passed into law in California Sept. 30th.Really? what was the date that became effective?
Or did I oversleep and it is 2023?
Yes, that is where I saw that. Presumed that was the actual conference preseason teams. Apologies, I stand corrected. Still think Buck will end up on one the WAC all conference teams at the end of the year. Dude can play. He showed that in high school, he showed that here, he will show at Bakerfield.Maybe he saw it on post #34
The California Governor signed the "Fair Play to Pay Act" on September 30th.It is effective right now! It was passed into law in California Sept. 30th.
I believe 9 other states already have similar laws drafted and will looking to pass them as well in the coming months.
The main issue is the NCAA may get in the way, but not sure yet. They may say any school that allows kids to accept money can not compete in NCAA events (i.e. NCAA tournaments). Right now - they have that power because California is the only state. But as other states pass similar laws - the NCAA will lose this power, because they need the schools as much as the schools need them. Especially when it comes to Men's basketball and I have to believe the big name schools will be all in favor of these because it will eliminate the need for them to "illegally" pay these kids in shady back room deals. They can simply give the money to a donor with a local business and tell them to pay the kid for a promo deal and all of sudden - no need to worry about NCAA Sanctions anymore.
They key will be getting other states on board with the right schools. California is a good start cause you got big name schools like UCLA, USC, Stanford, Cal Berkeley. Now if they can get states like Florida, North Carolina, Texas, etc involved - the schools will have something to go against the NCAA with.
Yep, sounds like Buck is still Buck. I want this guy on my team every day and Sunday.
Yes, our resident board genius was down on Chris Mack just as he is irrationally high on Mooney. Go figure. Oddo may get some pt tonight. Mr. casual fan Johhny Newman era, but can condescendingly point out the difference in teaching man to man to sman expert. Must be a member of our staff with the low bbal IQ displayed. Going to be a fun season for Hardt, will be hiding under his desk.Oddo looks good during TV timeout. Go Cards!
Vs non D1?Watching the CSU Bakersfield game, keeping an eye on Buck. He has 7 rebounds, 7 assists, 7 points and 2 steals at the half.
Vs non D1?
We can definitely use his toughness and rebounding, something lacking on our team.Yeah, DII. he didn't get much playing time in the 2nd half since CSUB has had like a 40 point lead for most of the half. Looks like Buck will end up with 12 points, 8 assists, 7 rebounds, and 3 steals in 24 minutes. It will be interesting to see how the team does against D1 competition.

Why is that ironic? I wouldn't expect heartfelt goodbyes when someone gets kicked off the team.I still find it ironic, that unlike when Kwan left, there were no heartfelt Social media good byes by his teammates.

It's not ironic when you throw one coworker a retirement party but not a party for the guy who got fired.
Last time I checked, his former Spider teammates were still following/liking/friends with him.
whether we liked it or not, Kwan earned his right to GT. Buck was made a center piece of this team from the moment he arrived on campus and he squandered it and in the process let his teammates down.
I agree with all of this. I pushed back against those who called Khwan a traitor. I just didn't find it "ironic" that they didn't give Buck a big sendoff on social media. That seems like normal behavior. Why would a current Spider post something publicly that could put him in Mooney's doghouse? It's not as if they all blackballed him.whether we liked it or not, Kwan earned his right to GT. He's not sticking around Bakersfield any longer than he needs to. This year is a showcase season for him. He'll be playing P5 next year.
Because he wants to come home?If not P5 then VCU
Because he wants to come home?
Any ....reason you think that?
If not P5 then VCU
Come home. Bro was athlete at vcu. Recruited by vcu out of hs. They go to ncaa’s & see them going hard after Buck. He might want to stick it to UR too.
Think p6 more likely but vcu would not surprise me.
