seems Sluka was too hot to handle by big time Teams. Guess he had to settle for his old coach who rescued him. Not sure but all does not sound right with his settling at JMU except he had no offers elsewhere?🏈🕷️🕸️

my take is that Cam is looking to be in line for a big payday for his 5th year. Redshirt next year. Have a big year the following year and then be a power 4 transfer for the 5th year. Would make $1M+ for that year.

If teams are paying more for low tier FBS transfer thanks FCS transfers, I can’t fault the logic. I don’t have to like it, but I do have to accept that may be the current environment.

Very well could be we find our place in the pecking order at UR of getting solid recruits and getting them on playing field quickly to develop their skills. Some will move on and hopefully some will stay and finish their career and get a valued diploma if the football career path doesn’t work out. The main thing we can do is to continue to offer a winning program with solid facilities and a coaching staff that can develop talent. Many kids will want to play early on and hopefully a large group of those will continue to value the UR diploma, playing time and a winning culture.

Looks like Villanova and William Mary also fall into the JMU Feeder School category based on the portal transfers in the above link provided by 32!

Well, if that's the plan as stated, then it seems like several things would have to play out for this to occur. That does seem like a lot to have to go right across lots of variables & moving parts in college football this year and the next couple for Cam. I wish the best for him & would like to see him get his chances, as I think he's a good QB, & he does have upside.

Why would he transfer? He makes $760K at UR.

Mooney, Huesman, and the Harbaugh brothers in unison...."Whose got it better than us??!!!"

Sounds like he wants that grad transfer option & no longer available at UR. As someone else noted I’d guess that’s now plan at JMU with Sluka starting this year. & then Cam having a big year following season & off to P4 as grad. Of course it’s sports & u can’t guarantee it works out as planned.

We still offer grad programs for players already in School at Richmond. Also it you transfer as a undergraduate, you can still be in graduate program at Richmond🏈🕸️🕷️

I didn’t mean there r not grad programs available at Richmond; there r. I meant being a future grad transfer out of UR was no longer an option. It’s exactly what Cam said….

“I didn’t get to use my redshirt so I knew grad transferring wasn’t going to be an option there”.

Because he had 2 years of eligibility left here. & def wasn’t going to redshirt as jr or sr. as our starting QB when we needed him to play. So came down to whether he decided to stay here & just get UR undergrad degree in next 2 years.

To me Cam comments indicated he wanted the redshirt year this season at UR. At least initially. Which contradict that he was upset about not winning Qb job out of camp (I thought that was said on this board but I could be wrong).

Regardless I don’t think a redshirt is something we should be promising a QB of all positions when they r the best team option for a successful season. Especially if we know a player has basically zero intention to use the extra year here. I get why Cam wanted the grad transfer option tho. I’m sure it’s in plenty of football players minds. But it’s sports nothing guaranteed.

Had he redshirted this year maybe we have him for the next 2 seasons. Then off as grad transfer for 5th year. Of course catch 22 is our past season wasn’t going to result in winning CAA or making playoffs without him.

If I’m misreading these remarks lmk
