This has been going on for awhile now, teams seem to blitz us a lot and we don't handle it well. Are we focusing on size to the detriment of speed for lineman? Are our backs to slow to pick up the blitzer. Do our receivers or QB not adjust when it's coming. cut off routes, etc.?

I believe there has been an emphasis on backs picking up blitzes for a couple of weeks now. X mentioned it in his post game interview Saturday.

Geez. Because having smaller linemen would help us so much in the run game, particularly short yardage?

We are averaging over 30 points per game and our yardage numbers are better than our ppg. We give up 2 sacks per game.

Call Danny and Sparky and Blaine and suggest we modify our offensive lineman recruiting strategies and let us know how it goes. Should be a fascinating report.

I can tell you there is a period each practice where the lineman work on pass protections against the blitz. the backs are there as well. The fact is at 'game speed' it is difficult to pick up stunts and disguises. Game experience is so valuable in this area for that reason. We will get better, especially because teams are really focusing on the double-A gap blitz. Hopefully Saturday we figure it out.

I don't think our power running game is so great for all our size and the rushed passes are a problem against an opponent that has the speed and exploits the blitz. *how many times have we needed a yard or two and been unable to convert with a straight dive? It seems to be quite a few, I can recall 3 at Stony Brook.

What happened to all those great screen passes we completed against Virginia? It's like someone ripped them out of the playbook

Use Pavik at 6-1,245 not Broadus on 3rd/4th and short.Pavik runs like a fullback.Low to the ground.David runs like he's just falling forward-straight up.
