Off-Season News

Agree with the above. I think Joe Mancuso has a solid role on the team and Jackson Walker might be a really capable long term solution, but I really hope our Week 1 starter at QB is not on our roster yet.

Bailey and Corp left for same reason. Both have done a great job in the recruiting area.

Sad to see them go. Bailey appeared to do an outstanding job with the d-line. As mentioned, Corp didn’t seem to be a fit with the offensive approach. Honestly, I’d have rather us changed the offensive approach. With our academics, we should have an elite o-line. Which should make pro style the way to go. But that’s my uneducated opinion.

think the staff has done a very good job with recruiting still holding out hope too bring a transfer qb in , seems like the key to winning this year .

Fun fact, I'm pretty sure many of you knew. But doing a bit of research I think our 3 highest NFL draft picks ever were:

1. Barty Smith - Round 1 pick 12 in 1974
2. Barry Redden - Round 1 pick 14 in 1982
3. Walker Gillette - Round 1 pick 15 in 1970

Pretty cool!

Redden was a beast. Can remember turning sideways in a hall in Thomas Hall to let him by.
I remember a game on Thanksgiving Day against Penn, I think, where he ran for 300 yards and went through about 10 tear away jerseys (remember those).

I always thought it was 281? :D

Close.Officially 280 and 2 TDs for Barry.UR went 4-7 in 1981 under Dal Shealy with a come from behind 18-12 W v Quakers. That Turkey Day game with Penn came about because Nova dropped football and we both needed a fill-in-the-gap game.

My son was watching a Netflix series called QB1 and in season 2 Chad Grier is the coach of Oceanside Collegiate in SC. They are featuring his QB Sam Hartman who is now at Wake Forest. He was at Davidson Day but got this opportunity to start up the Oceanside program. It is a good series about the life of future D-I QBs although they are all now in D-1.

Not sure that I get Keels heading to Richmond,Kentucky from Richmond,Va.

Had to be desperate to get out of Dodge especially given his “injury” which kept him from playing
most if not all of last season.
