Just look at the pipeline situation with ignorant liberal ecoterrorists and celebrities. All over a pipeline that is going to cross a river that already has multiple pipelines crossing it. They've pulled out all the stops and won't let facts get in the way of a good story.

I'd prefer to talk football though. How tall are your DBs? We have a couple of true fr tall slow ass white boys that have been deadly on back shoulder throws.
We're pretty short. Mainsah is like 5'10 or so and I believe all the starters back there are about the same. We are missing two starters particularly an all American safety in the back end. I looked at yalls roster and there are definitely some big tall receivers, but how is yalls QB play?

If you go to Grand Forks, hit the Red Pepper for a grinder or go to Whitey's over in East Grand Forks (Minn.). UND traditions for decades. The old Whitey's burned down a while ago but I've heard the rebuilt one is OK too.

Grand Forks is a university town, only about half as big as Fargo but still a nice city, with a rebuilt downtown after much of it burned in a flood about 10-15 years ago. I believe the B2 bombers that carried the Nukes were mostly stationed at Minot AFB, not at GFAFB, which I think has been downsized considerably from the Cold War years.

The hockey team is out of town but if you get a chance tour the arena. It's of NHL quality, the best college hockey arena in the country, by far.

Just a reminder, it can get seriously cold there, but usually not until January. Forecast is decent, in the 30s. It's supposed to be 18/-5 midweek after the game, so count your blessins.

Minneapolis airport is fine, then a quick hop to Grand Forks. Not sure if there is a direct flight from RIC to MSP.

Corners can be smallest but scrappy, and safeties are decent size. Quick LBs who have played early as DBs help with coverage.

Liberal bleeding hearts felt it offended the natives. One tribal leader wouldn't let his people vote to approve the nickname which doomed the nickname. The situation became too toxic to save. UND supporters stayed stubborn and fought it for another 5 years. Dropped the name to avoid sanctions. It was a black cloud over our teams and school for over a decade. It was to the point where if we kept the name we would have had to drop football because no conference would accept us with that baggage. If you go on the rez to this day you will see tons of sioux gear worn with pride by natives.

There are now two factions of UND fans: those who have moved on because we support our university no matter what, and the sioux forever crowd that will never accept the new nickname or logo ever. I wish we could have kept it but it just wasn't going to work out so I have accepted the Fighting Hawk nickname, even though it wasn't the one I voted for, and the new logo because, at the end of the day it was the success of our student athletes that made us great, not a nickname or a cartoon.
NCAA a bunch of hypocrites, The FSU seminoles don't seem to have any problem keeping their name. Don't even get me started on the UNC bull.

Hey there, looking forward to some good FCS playoff football on Saturday!

As for UND's quarterback - Keaton Studsrud (6'1" 195 lbs.) - he is effective in what the coaching staff asks him to do. He is a true junior and this is his 2nd season as the full-time starter (started 4 games as a true freshman). We are quite balanced on offense; however, the offense does tend to lean more towards the run if able to (2388 rushing yards to 1922 passing yards). For that reason, Studsrud's numbers are pretty pedestrian but he takes care of the ball really well (UND has the 3rd best turnover margin in the FCS) which has helped UND tremendously. Studsrud's 2016 regular season statistics (he missed one game): 1816 yards passing, 12 TD passes, 2 INT, 56.6% completion percentage, 188 yards rushing, 5 rushing TDs.

The Seminole tribes in Florida supported the nickname, so it could stay. I think they also get a cut of FSU logo-inscribed merchandise.

There are two large reservations in North Dakota, Spirit Lake (Fort Totten) and Standing Rock. Spirit Lake (about 1.5 hours west of GF) gave their approval for the nickname. However, the elders at Standing Rock would not allow a tribal vote, because it would have passed handily and they would have been viewed as having no authority.

Without approval of the state's tribes, the NCAA moved forward to force the school to change its nickname.

What exactly happened with UNC and the bull?
Nothing, years of a fake class, years of players getting A grades for this fake class to keep their average up and the NCAA has done nothing why, I have to assume it's because UNC is a high profile program. The death penalty would be tough but appropriate but so far nothing.

The NCAA should have made that part of the deal. have a vote and we'll live with the results.

How would you compare UND to NDSU? I know how good NDSU is after we met them in the semis last year so hearing your comparison on the two teams should help me gauge what UND is like. Also how big of a rivalry is UND and NDSU?

UND-NDSU has a long history of being rivals. UND leads the overall series, however NDSU has had more success on the national stage/National Championships.

Right now, NDSU is better...heck, they are better than every FCS team. But they do play the same style of football. Here's a link to nice little video NFL Films did on the rivalry several years back.

Both teams are smash mouth and physical. Our defense is very different, although we both use smaller OLBs that can cover the slot. They run a 4 man front tampa 2 and we run an exotic Ravens/Steelers like 3-4 with a lot of man to man coverage. They rely on getting to the qb with 4 so they can cover with everyone else. We blitz almost every play but rarely bring more than 5. Both are great against the run. We are more susceptible to the big play through the air than they are because of coverage style but we also lead the nation in ints.

On offense they are a power west coast team with spread elements. We are very similar on offense but I wouldn't call us west coast. Lots of FBs and TEs blocking. They don't have any tall WRs though and we don't have many that aren't at least 6'2". Both our QBs can run, although NDSUs QB has a good 20 lbs on ours. Studsrud is a better passer than Stick but not quit as strong of an arm. We each have a ton of really good RBs and we spread the carries out. They throw to their TEs more than we do but we have been showing signs of tossing it to the big guys more and more.

We are a year or two away from being the team that Bubba envisions but we are much deeper than we have ever been at the D1 level already. Depth, I would say, is the difference between NDSU and UND right now as far as caliber of team.

maybe the best ride to Grand Forks would be on a B-52?...

not sure what's going on now, but believe during the cold war Grand Forks was one of the homes of the Strategic Air Command bases and the fleets of nuclear armed B-52 conventional bombers...

think I've read the ancient B-52s are still flying and part of the nuclear arsenal...

Go Spiders!

Your right about most of that, B52's bombers are not at GFAFB anymore, but were for many years. Now being you brought up football, we'll see on Saturday who:

Can throw the bomb?
Explode through the line?
Guide the Football through the uprights?
Intercept the enemy?
Protect the homeland, the Hawk's Nest?

Hoping for a very exciting game.

The NCAA has no standing with the tribal elders at the Standing Rock Reservation. The elders were not going to allow a vote, period.

THE ROAD. OSC

Probably the best roads in the country. Then we're on an old lake bottom so the landscape is flat, making the roads even better. Elevation drops about 5' a mile going away from the Red River east or west and drops about 1' a mile going north, till you get close to the Manitoba boarder where is drops 1" a mile.
Now being we're so flat with a limited number of trees, spiders are easily picked off by Hawks. Wish you well!

Thanks for all the info man. Your fans seem very respectful and knowledgable about the game, unlike some of our in conference opponents. That being said I hope we shred y'all up this weekend. It should be a good game.

Sounds like your caught up in that same WEB of in conference opponents? Wish you well, Bud.

I'm just messing with you. I love talking football and especially with people who know it well like me. I've always been very impressed with the fans of NDSU and feel I would get along well with them, I get the same feeling from y'all already.

Hi there. Siouxsports is the correct board. You'll be welcomed there as we are very curious about Richmond.

Just to clear something up, lakesbison is a degenerate who had been banned from his own teams board multiple times and everything he says, especially about UND, should be taken with a massive grain of salt.

So, what would you like to know about UND?
says the loser that stocks shelves at Target. im only banned on 3 Boards, Richmond has had me on here before. relax sally

YOU CANT COMPARE THE 2

1 İS 5 TİME CHAMP, BEAT #13 İOWA 81-6
THE OTHER lost to naia school 4 years ago & barely over .500

Just a homeless troll, all mistakes. Climbs over a barb wire fence, goes to NDSU tailgate parties to eat. Saddle up there Sally! Which message board you riding off to next to Troll?

I tend to eat and drink a lot at tailgates, especially when I'm being handed free stuff.
I hope the roads are flat and straight in ND.
This troll just fed you a plate of cow s$$t. You fly to Minneapolis, then GF. Come to the Hawks' Nest to tailgate, watch an exciting game, enjoy evening in GF. And, yes roads in GF are as flat as as a homeless trolls dinner plate. Wishing you a Good Game!

I don't care for plates of cow s$$t. I do like bison burgers, though. Do you serve those? With a side of broccoli?

A UND fan asked me why he could only post 10 times and then it says he has to wait to be able to post again. Are they all on "probation"?

Y'all really don't like each other do you?

I'd like to think one degenerate doesn't represent an entire fan base. Every one has some most Bison fans are great, they wear ugly colors and breath through their mouths but other than that...

I'm sensing that barnwintersportsengelstad (seriously dude, that's way too long) and Lakesbison don't get along.

No one likes Lakesbison. It is true that he has been banned at several online forums, and, well, he is one of those rival fans who takes it too far.

As for the comparison of UND and NDSU, I'll start with the rivalry. It is big. It is not as big as it was just 15 years ago due to differences in when NDSU (2004) and UND (2008) went from Division II to Division I FCS and also the current conference situation (UND - Big Sky Conference; NDSU - MVFC).

Here's a wiki link on the rivalry: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nickel_Trophy

As for the teams on-the-field comparison, NDSU - 5 time consecutive FCS national champs - is undoubtedly the team between the two that has had the most recent success. UND played NDSU in a non-conference matchup in 2015 in Fargo (first head-to-head matchup since 2003); NDSU won 34-9. Fortunately, this year's UND team is better (2015: 7-4, 2016: 9-2) and this year's NDSU team doesn't have Carson Wentz (#2 overall 2016 NFL draft pick; current starting QB for Philadelphia Eagles).

Us folks from North Dakota love to talk trash between UND and NDSU (depending on alliance, of course), and depending on how things shake out moving forward, UND and NDSU may both end up in the MVFC soon which would allow the annual rivalry to return.

UND is the flagship university of North Dakota, so in my biased opinion, it is by far the better school and should be on top moving forward.

Go Fighting Hawks!

I have a tremendous amount of respect for both programs. It's amazing how both became so quickly successful after jumping up from D2. It's also pretty cool that there is no major football in the state so everyone loves NDSU and UND. The fan bases seem pretty legit at both too. I know NDSU's is and I get the feeling that UND has a great fan base as well.

I don't care for plates of cow s$$t. I do like bison burgers, though. Do you serve those? With a side of broccoli?
Sorry it took so long to get back to you, been trying, but apparently they had to take down some wall in Richmond so we could post more than 10 times.
Absolutely, we have Bison Burgers in GF. Lots of Broccoli also. You are most welcome to come visit. There is a rancher just west of town that has a herd of Buffalo and keeps the alumni, locals, and beyond in stock. His Bison kills are also sold in local grocery stores. Now the broccoli is commercially shipped in, also I and many gardeners raise it in our garden, very good vegetable. In fact I just pulled mine up in the middle of deer season and used the plants as deer bait, they also love it. Doesn't that tell you something.
Now back to this troll, I'm surprised he's alone but the ball game's not over yet, just remember there's no need to go to Fargo, from Minneapolis, go to GF, you'll be treated respectfully! Wish you a great game!

Anyone here go to the NC A&T game on Sat? It's been reported that there were around 3200 fans at that game. By actually being at the game and having a feel for how many fans were actually there, does that seem correct? Camera views of stands show like there could of been more?

My guess would have been between 4 & 4,500. Small school and students were gone, always a low attendance weekend
