If we wanted Huesman the buyout wouldn't prevent it. Not saying we would pay 1 MIL b/c we wouldn't pay that of course, but isn't it really 600k max? Contract goes to Feb 2021. Plus while some schools pay buyouts it's just as often worked out btw the individual & former school and would have nothing to do with UR. Look at Ole Jer when he went to Depaulful. Now Ole Jer lawyered up when we went to collect which is understandable, we got paid but probably settled for less. It happens. Russ and UTC would be same deal. Plus he would be making a hell of a lot more $ here he could afford the buyout. I assume we have something due to UR from Rocco leaving too, maybe we decide to kick in just a little to help Huessman. Who knows just saying looks like nothing close to a MIL in reality.

Huesman, London, or Bob Shoop would be good with me. The latter was in the mix last time if you guys recall. If Shoop stayed at Penn St this year instead of TN he probably has a FBS head gig this year. Makes a lot of $ too but maybe he decides to go back to FBS as head coach. He can coach notwithstanding TN this year and knows FBS landscape. Personally I think W&M wants him after Laycock retires.

Rocco did a good job here, he's a good coach nobody will dispute that but I'm also kinda ready to move on after he chose to go the nuclear route.

If we land Huesman I believe he already has a relationship with Stewart. I think the players would regret leaving if they did. I don't know him personally but believe we'd be in very good shape.

I don't get the London supporters. Only coach in history to destroy a FCS and FBS program in the same state in less than 10 years.

I don't think he destroyed either program. UVA was bad when he took over. If anyone destroyed UR football it was Latrell. And we recovered pretty quickly so its a not description I agree with anyway. London won 17 straight here and a National Title. I realize Clawson built it, and if you asked me Clawson or London I'd take Clawson in a millisecond, but London gets too much heat here imo. I can't say he didn't make recruiting mistakes, it is brought up here so he probably did. But bet he got some good ones too. Rocco won with bunch of them right away. If we had stable coaching situation post London I contend he would be looked at much differently, but what went down was of our own doing not his fault. And he gets beat up on by how he left yet many of those people who did so are very willing to kiss Rocco's ring. I don't get that. I put his name in the above post so figured i would reply. Also an alum & most likely he's learned a lot from UR & UVA stints. Knows lay of the land here. Probably would stay long time too, already tried the P5 job. Not my first choice but I could get behind him too.

Because it's been a long day and I'm too lazy to research it, which London recruits did Rocco have success with?

Did London's recruiting give Rocco a couple good players?

He left us with virtually NO linemen. we should never, never, never consider him.

It's obviously not going to happen, but I would not be upset to bring London back. Just tell him, "Hey Mike – this time, recruit some @#*!# linemen, ok! And here's $40k – hire a dude to stand next to you at all times during the game and read the clock to you."

Kerry Wynn is another that comes to mind. The whole OL deal, ok really none? I know for a fact he signed some OL but I guess they didn't work out. But he was responsible for 2 whole classes, if we were weak at OL it spanned years besides just London. He will have some cons just like any candidate but man it feels like you're grasping.

Coach Rocco was the heart of this team and he is gone. They better try to keep Coach Stewart who is the soul of this team or you will see a mass exit.

I'm going to direct a portion of my future donations toward a really small violin.

Rocco has had us all played and he has for a while.

Respect your view, but he left the cupboard bare at both schools IMO, particularly when it came to linemen. His history with QBs at UVA was worse than horrible and he is a disaster at clock management. I had no problem with how he left. Like him as a person, he is a great motivator, but not a good HC. We can do better.

I believe one of the OL London recruited here was Kurt Schmitz, who suffered numerous concussions and later died after leaving the program.

I really, really like and respect Mike London, but they are absolutely right - our depth was non-existent. Ironically, UVA wanted him mainly for his perceived recruiting ability, but the reality was far different.

You can think we're grasping, but watch a replay of the beatdown UR put on UVA this summer (it will also be a happy memory). That's the result of 6 years under ML. Bronco has his work cut out.

That was also an excellent UR team that started this season.
