Wouldn't that be the ultimate irony – we couldn't pony up the extra money for staff/facilities for Rocco, but we'd be willing to eat the $1M buyout to hire his successor.

That said, if we can somehow get him back, do it immediately.

Not gonna happen.Maybe a higher level FBS or a lower level BCS would write a 7 figure check to Chatty but not a tiny FCS.

Danny's buyout to be paid by Hens to UR must be cheap. In the Danny proposed UR rewrite contract it likely wasn't gonna be a cheap buyout.Another reason Danny never signed included with many other reasons.Smart Danny.

My first choice: Kevin Higgins. This would be his last coaching stop. At 61, we could get five years out of him easy.

My second choice: Russ Huesman. But we better move quickly.

I fully expect Gill to bring in a black head coach. Personally, I couldn't care less if he is black, or white, or purple, or Asian-American or even an alien.

if russ signed a new contract with a million dollar buy out, he is not coming here so forget that one.

I read the article 32 posted and listened to the video. I must have missed something because I never read about or heard a mention of a million dollar buyout. Where does this information come from?

i made that up to crush talk of russ. just kidding, read it in one of the articles or someone else said it, not sure.

That's cool. I was just wondering because everyone was questioning it as though it were the gospel and I spent some time, without success, trying to verify it.

You can find plenty of stuff if you just google "Russ Huesman contract". It had a buyout clause of $150k per year for each year remaining on the contract when he started there. He signed an extension several years ago and i would assume that the same clause is included in the extension, if it isn't even more restrictive now.

Public school. You can pull up the contract somewhere, i'm sure.

Someone posted a link to an article from the Chatty paper that specifically mentioned his last raise included the $1M buyout.

It should be clear to all of us by now , that this administration has no interest in our input on anything , as it relates to this football program . Our wish list is as likely to get filled as is the Christmas list of a Congolese orphan .

How many more letters, emails do we need to send? It certainly hadn't changed anything. I went by the spider club office, where Gills new office is, but it was locked. I don't mind telling him first hand. I still can't believe we let our AD telecommute, is that really true?
I have no idea what this telecommuting rumor is. Keith Gill lives in my neighborhood, I see him out walking the neighborhood early mornings all the time. He does still have DC plates on his car, but I suspect that's just tax avoidance strategy.

If looking for an African American HC we could do a lot worse than Ruffin McNeil. Players coach, honest, honorable man of integrity. Would be a tremendous asset to the community.

I've always liked Mcneil - seemed like he got a raw deal.

What do we think about Pete Lembo? Had a good run in the FCS before going to Ball St. Had some great years there before falling off at the end. He's at MD now as an assistant. AD at Ball St is Mark Sandy, London is at MD so there are a couple Richmond connections. He has always struck me as a good coach. Thoughts?

He's a heck of a coach, period. Suspect he will be looking for an FBS job, though. But it never hurts to ask.

And against the law. You have 30 days to change your plates upon establishing residency in Virginia. So if he is indeed living here in Richmond and not DC, than in additional to be a crappy AD, he is also a tax cheat.

FWIW, DC taxes are much higher. Most would rather have their car registered in VA.
Plus dealing with DC department of motor vehicles is not something that any sane person would elect to do if there was another choice. Perhaps the car that Gill drives is a leased car?

Majority of ECU fans were incensed the school got rid of McNeil and I am around a bunch of ECU grads.

I have never been an ECU fan, but am a big fan of McNeil. He's a winner on the field and in life. His personality is positive and infectious. Like I said, we could do much worse.
Wow, you do know that ECU has no academic standards whatsoever. That would be a tough transition.

Keith Gill's wife works in DC, they have 2 residences. It's not that complicated.

So Gill lives in DC AND Richmond, tries to cheat on his car taxes but is bad at that because he's paying the higher taxes instead of the lower ones and is not married to his wife? This thread is teaching me much! More information, please!

Wow, their academic standards are are really no different from Liberty. The transition has been made before. Average ACT score for both is 22. Average SAT is actually higher at ECU (1551 vs 1522 on 2400 scale which is the old SAT).

Ok maybe common law wife is more appropriate, or longtime girlfriend, or partner. I don't know. His relationship status is none of my business, I was only trying to bring additional clarity to the DC deal. It sounds like we have some posters who will be investigating the car tag records at DMV and marriage licenses at the courthouse anyway.

I heard he sometimes wears the same underwear for two days in a row, sometimes three.
What a f**kin ne'er–do–well and pariah.
