He definitely has a creepy vibe. It was originally reported that there were multiple women reporting him. If these were false, would think he would have come out with much stronger words in his defense - though I guess I can buy that lawyers were directing his comments. No idea what to believe. Could also see Florida paying victims to go away in this world of big dollar SEC - that wouldn't surprise me either.Florida coeds better be on the lookout. Golden is bulletproof there now.
In this day of NIL and transfers, he may have known his HP roster was at risk and hence his WL recordagreed. no idea what he was making at High Point but he signed an extension in March. if I'm Huss, I probably tell Creighton "thanks for the interest. I definitely want to be considered for the job when it becomes available. But I'll keep head coaching for now."
McDermott may feel like he'll retire in a year or 2 ... but in a year or 2 that might change.
What was the high point of the trip?Just visited High Point on college tours, it is a weird place.
The high point was definitely not High Point. It did help us define what we were not looking for in a college. What was the high point of the trip?
He is probably getting at least twice more at Creighton. Easy decision.agreed. no idea what he was making at High Point but he signed an extension in March. if I'm Huss, I probably tell Creighton "thanks for the interest. what was wrong with it? looks beautiful. The high point was definitely not High Point. It did help us define what we were not looking for in a college.
so now schools are being put down for having nice facilities and maintained grounds?A quote I once saw that's stuck with me is that it's a resort masquerading as an educational institution.
The criticism I think is that they've focused on that perhaps to the detriment of the academic mission. They've been in a strong growth mode and accept ~80% of applicants. They also had some accreditation issues within the past few years.so now schools are being put down for having nice facilities and maintained grounds?
guess we're next.
Wondered when ths would be announced, heard it Monday.Chu bringing Jenkins on board…

we visited. I think they're growing the best way possible. can't be easy to change perception. The criticism I think is that they've focused on that perhaps to the detriment of the academic mission. But I have no first-hand experience and have never set foot on campus or have any recollection of speaking with anyone who's gone there. It's just the general impression I get from those here in NC who have some familiarity.
It's very different. It has a resort feel too it, from having 3 5 star restaurants on campus, the academic buildings are over the top nice, like do they really teach in them nice.A quote I once saw that's stuck with me is that it's a resort masquerading as an educational institution.
agreed, the visit was very much a sales pitch! the President is a bit much. and the school is very much cut off from the town (so is UR, without the security gates). but in fairness, High Point the town is a hole. I think I'd want gates based on the location. It gave me cultish vibes, they market themselves as a "life skills" college but everything seems like an enormous sales job. Also, it is completely gated off from the community, ...
President gave me televangelist vibes. Yes, High Point is a dump, particularly the area surrounding it but it was the whole totality of the place that unsettled me. We looked at 6 schools and that was the only one where we were like "nope", not a chance, immediately.agreed, the visit was very much a sales pitch! the President is a bit much. and the school is very much cut off from the town (so is UR, without the security gates). but in fairness, High Point the town is a hole. Funny you say that. My brother-in-law recently visited with his kid and also said he got “cultish vibes” and didn’t feel comfortable there. It's very different. It has a resort feel too it, from having 3 5 star restaurants on campus, the academic buildings are over the top nice, like do they really teach in them nice.
It gave me cultish vibes, they market themselves as a "life skills" college but everything seems like an enormous sales job. Also, it is completely gated off from the community, they even have a trail running through the middle of campus that the community can use but they can't get on campus, nor can the students access the trail. We couldn't get out of there fast enough.
But they definitely have established themselves a nice little "niche", catering to rich people who want their sons/daughters to have a very exclusive college experience (at least amenity wise, not sure the academics match that).
