Morehead State

82-64 final. Definitely took over the second half. Kentucky only give up 41 to these guys...

True. I didn't catch the Kentucky - Morehead game, did they keep their starting lineup in for a long time? Mooney gave a lot of time to players outside the core group for us, if he had kept the starters in longer our margin would be a lot bigger. It looked like Mooney was experimenting with lineups and getting a sense for Dji and Isaiah this game. Also gave Sal and Grace a ton of minutes.

Good game, had some tech difficulties so only saw about half. But I have to believe Cayo is the most improved player year to year to year I have seen in the last 30 years, judging on this game. Seems like a great guy, so well deserved, but grab a rebound next game :).

Hopefully the Weir thing is just a glitch. Such BS by Bob Black as usual. Gus is out due to sickness, and Weir is coaches decisions. Such mickey mouse BS. If he screwed up and suspended for a game, just say so in a generic manor. C'mon man, you are not the NE Patriots (not that I like them) but you can't be this Bill B crap when you haven't won anything in 8 years moon dog.

But good win. Kentucky is a long and athletic, will take a herculean effort to defeat - but I will be all in for it to happen. Wilson - Bull Dog! Great to see Dji in there, he looks looong, and very heads up play in the last few minutes.

Lots of good takeaways from this game...Burton dominating the boards, Cayo with a monster game. Blake and Grant got theirs, and Gilly did his thing. Really liked what I saw out of Wilson. Grace played his role pretty well. I don't love the threes from him, but he's a smart player and I really like his passing ability.

Defense definitely needs tightening up, although I'm not surprised there's some rust to shake off there. Got burned a few times on gambles as the guys were flying around. Thin bench with four guys out...hopefully we get some of them back quickly. Sal still not taking advantage of his opportunities. Bob noted he's more of a wing this year, but he's gotta convince me that role is going to work for him.

Good opening win. No major complaints, aside from tightening up some defense. Cayo and Burton were the stars out there. We don't need 23 from Cayo every night but his scoring prowess with get Kentucky's attention and I think that will open up some more shots for Blake and Gilly.

I'm gonna say that Grace gave us some solid back-up minutes. Sal looked like Sal still, which was disappointing. Game 1 and you can tell Wilson is gonna be a player.

Hopefully we get Goose back for Kentucky, were gonna need him.

Love the way Grace is playing
Consistently does what we need him to do. Plugs a hole for a few minutes when Grant is out without turning the game for the worse. Takes a lot of heat here. Find him a competent back up at the mid major level.

Regret first game was cancelled, Grace versus Mercy would have been a match up made in Heaven.

Not too impressive if you ask me. If UR is really as good as everyone says they would have beaten morehead by a lot more. Still look like a team with little depth and ya Cayo scored but how TF do you only get 1 rebound as a starting division 1 forward. Grant also only with 4, this team will get worked by Kentucky’s front line.

Fine, it's not a hundred times. It's still annoying as shit and you'd think they'd make a COVID adjustment to this, knowing that more people will have to watch from home this year. . This isn't asking too much.
Look on the bright side...at least we didn't have to watch two games like this.

He doesn't like the wishy-washy "coach's decision" reasoning. It's clearly something their keeping private. We don't need to know the exact circumstances.
Thanks SF. Yes, hate the wish washy BS. Just say: He didn't live up to the program standards, or something a little more specific, without the details needed. Obviously is not just because he didn't make the right rotation in practice or something. By not saying anything, is more like a cover up.

I thought this season didn’t count with the NCAA’s COVID rules but maybe I misunderstood them.
So, all freshmen can play this year and still be freshmen next year also? Or do they have to be kept out of games to be considered a redshirt freshman next year. I'm confused.

All current athletes now have six years in which to play four seasons, and this season doesn’t count toward those four, regardless of whether they play or not. So whether Andre suits up or not, he’ll have four years of eligibility left after this year...not sure how schools will denote athletes’ class years going forward though.

Complain all you want, but this is a game that we’ve either lost or had come down to last possession way too often in the Mooney era. A comfortable win today - take it every time. Thought we showed good balance today. Grace is a solid backup big guy - lots of programs would love to have him.

We rarely beat bad teams by 36

I didn't realize this would apply to everyone. Guess a lot of NCAA records will fall in the next few years...

Good win to start the season, saw some things I loved, saw some things I cringed at -- to early to have a fell yet. Hopefully our ball movement will trouble the Cats, Gotta shoot much better from the line and at the 3 point line to pull out the win. We beat KU at home, now lets beat the UK at home

This is the million dollar question. Will we get out athleted and overwhelmed, or will we be able to out execute KY? I am cautiously optimistic. But watching KY's athletes and experienced transfers I can see taking either side.

Is Crabtree injured?
Apparently, still not ready. He was cleared for "basketball activities" 5 months ago, a poster stated he had a pulled groin a few weeks back, so not sure. An A10 blogger concurred with me on Noah's podcast, that Crabtree could be critical to replace Sherod's 3pt shooting. Really want to see Burton shoot it 35%. I think at 25% again tonight, though small sample.
