ha sign me up for the world where we could hire that KA as assistant. Not sure what happened w other KA at Liberty either. Kevin Smith we all loved here but I’m not sure Moon takes 2 assistants same year off McGeehan’s staff. If talking other ex Spiders look at Eugene Burroughs possibly. Pro & college experience. Also almost once hired by Mooney.

It’s of course reasonably commonplace to hire former players as assistants so I don’t get too sideways about this but I do think there’s significant merit to hiring a coach with a different pedigree and perspective.

Im looking for a complement to my weaknesses if I’m CM which in my view are a) recruiting and b) defense. Just my opinion.

How about this for a home run swing. Tony Dobbins. He has been on the Celtics staff the past two years as an assistant coach. And they have the best defense in the league - and I got to imagine he has a small part in that. Money might be an issue, but go ahead and make him highest assistant in league. I assume as bottom row assistant in NBA - he probably makes 100-200K a year. So swing big and offer him 300-400K. See what he says.

after being part of a Finals run and maybe even a championship run I would imagine the job promotion he has in mind does not include sitting on Mooney's bench.

Agreed - that is where the money has to be BIG - for assistant. Pay him double what he makes on NBA bench. If he makes $150 - offer $300.

Ha, was thinking that earlier and checked - though i did not see he was on the alternate list. I missed one Celtics game earlier in the playoffs - and was informed by my sons Curtis had reffed it. Pretty cool he is moving up. Seems to do a very solid job. The best scene was when Lebron made his return to Cleveland, Curtis called an offensive foul on him that first game, and they had a stare down.
