Yes, it is my opinion. I think that was clear from my post. He asked for his release more than a week ago and it has not been granted yet. If you can think of other reasons, please enlighten us.
I'm sure he wouldn't go public with it before giving the school the chance to grant it. But if for some reason it drags on, maybe that would change.I'm sure CM and his assistants would love to change Khwan's mind. Might have asked him to sleep on it. Maybe they're helped reach out to programs to see if he can find the kind of situation he's looking for. Who knows.
But if Khwan officially asked for his release it would be news already. Even if it wasn't granted right away. He doesn't need permission to ask for a release and go public with it. He's chosen not to so far. I'm curious.
I guess, but I see tweets every day that so-and-so "has asked for his release".I'm sure he wouldn't go public with it before giving the school the chance to grant it. But if for some reason it drags on, maybe that would change.
Right, but what I'm suggesting is that Khwan is not out here trying to burn bridges. Most likely he just wants to play at a school that is bigger and has a better chance of making the tournament, not crap all over Mooney and UR on his way out the door. So he is waiting patiently.I guess, but I see tweets every day that so-and-so "has asked for his release".
if we're not granting for some reason (which seems unlikely to me) the quickest way to change that is to let everyone know you've asked and it hasn't been granted.
Could it be as simple as the approvals, paperwork and release statement take time? As a scientist, I generally go by Occam's razor.Yes, it is my opinion. I think that was clear from my post. Anything is possible, but I don't think too much is required on the end of the school granting the release. Seems like a week and a half would have been enough time for that to happen.Could it be as simple as the approvals, paperwork and release statement take time? very considerate if that's it, but he's got to look out for himself and go find a good spot if he's leaving.Right, but what I'm suggesting is that Khwan is not out here trying to burn bridges. I'm sure that if he has a preferred place to play, those coaches know he is leaving and interested. It's easy enough to relay the message. And it is possible that the graduation thing is an issue, but it would be an issue for many grad transfers since it's only April 2 and a lot of them won't actually graduate until May.very considerate if that's it, but he's got to look out for himself and go find a good spot if he's leaving.
another thought ... he is only a red shirt junior. maybe graduating early isn't a slam dunk and he's been told to wait to get a final exam score.
I am beginning to wonder if the fact that Hardt retired yesterday is delaying this news or non news???
Could be we are in a holding pattern until a new AD?
does anyone remember the Gonzalvez situation? did he ask and not get a release?
I've thought for a long time that Khwan might go home and play for Alabama or Auburn as a grad transfer. He would be a great 6th man for either team and obviously his chances of going to an NCAA tournament in his last year are much higher (sadly).
No. I wouldn't talk ill of another program or coach. I'll talk of our advantages and the family bond the team has. That there will be no better place satisfaction-wise for him to win at. No guys you'd rather win with.If you were advising him, would you mention that Pearl is typically one step of the NCAA Posse, won't talk to the school's legal department and if he goes there and the other shoe drops, he's screwed?
Sorry, thought I would give it a try, see if I reel in any more.Just because certain people don't know how "to internet" on 4/1, doesn't give you an extension.![]()
I think you are correct here, it almost has to be a "play in the NCAA" desire. He must choose carefully, because if his new team has two well rounded guards, he will find himself playing 4-8 situational minutes a game from the bench.Maybe Khwan should call Adoda and ask what playing two minutes a game on a team you don’t care about feels like.
He might not even achieve 4-8 minutes per game.He must choose carefully, because if his new team has two well rounded guards, he will find himself playing 4-8 situational minutes a game from the bench.
Khwan's a very good player. you don't think much of our team if a guy getting 32 mpg here can't get time at many another programs as a grad transfer.
I like Khwan and hope he stays and plays 30+ m/g for us next year. But is a solid NCAA team going to hand over the starting PG position to him? No -- so now we are talking about a 6' shooting guard that isn't a great shooter. How many at large teams this year started someone like that at SG? I honestly don't know, but I suspect is is a very small number. I think we are about as good a fit for him as anybody.
He might as well stay here if he is going to one of those rebuilds. Think Khwan will find a team ready to win and go to the NCAA next year. I don't know why he is leaving but I would think winning and going to the NCAA would be on that list.I don't know starting line-ups, but there are teams with attrition or coaching changes that have a lot of holes like Pitt, Memphis, UConn ... not necessarily March Madness teams but teams in bigger conferences. he might find a PG role.
Could it be that he wants to get closer to home?He might as well stay here if he is going to one of those rebuilds. Think Khwan will find a team ready to win and go to the NCAA next year. I don't know why he is leaving but I would think winning and going to the NCAA would be on that list.
Question, I really don't know the answer to, would a P5 powerhouse team want a 6 foot shooting guard, with a mediocre shot? Point guard I could see.Said this above, but I see Khwan as a 6th man off the bench at a good BCS program. He probably would get 15-20 mpg in such a role. Khwan can play the point and 2 guard, so I think that would be attractive to a number of teams.
Could it be he doesn't have a lot of faith in the program? If he leaves, along with the Adoda departure and all the recruiting misses, the problem seems to be systemic! The Bryce Golden decision will speak volumes as to the health of the programCould it be that he wants to get closer to home?

Is there a reason people spell Ododa's name wrong all the time?
