Jmu game

When is the last time we fired a coach in football or basketball? Our administrators don’t want to do the hard part of their jobs. . A UR coaching job is a tenured position with no accountability. UR doesn’t care and the only folks who get hurt are the loyal fans.
Scott resigned, but he most certainly would have been fired. So probably the last FB coached fired for longtime ineptitude was Jim Marshall. I think Reid resigned as well, not sure if he would have been fired but whatever it was he did, it was no longer working.

Which subsequent football coach do you wish we'd fired? Clawson? London? Rocco? Generally we have not fired football coaches because they left for better jobs.

I don't expect Huesman to return in 2022. Neither the AD nor the president who approved his hiring are employed by UR any more. Perfect time for the new president to show his commitment to successful football.

SF, May know the answer to this but has any UR sports coach been terminated before the end of a contract in the last 185 years?

I thought that was true and at one point the administration was proud of that fact.

I thought all who left were by their own accord (even if it was leave or else…since we never had to act on the or else).

How did Dal Shelly depart?

He left to take the job of executive director of Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

Depends how you define "fired." We let contracts expire and then don't extend people sometimes. Not sure the last time we fired someone with time remaining on a contract.

Not sure the first time we terminated someone with time remaining on a contract.

That is what I meant...

Could someone help me understand why Hardt continuously receives the negative comments. He did not hire Huesmann. He did not hire Mooney. He did hire Roussell(sp) who is succeeding. My expectation is that Hardt will be hiring a new football coach in December 2030

Certainly there have been coaches who haven't had their contracts renewed. Given that contract terms for most sports are private, I don't know whether any have been let go while still under contract. The Latrell separation was obviously a special case, regardless of how it went down behind the scenes.
