Isaiah Bigelow - 6'7 Guard/Wing

Note that in my original post I never used the word “guaranteed”. Plz reread for specific terminology. We can revisit if Grace starts when the opening tip is next year. I say regardless of all the posts, rationalizations, and combinations / permutations of lineups suggested, in the end MG will start.
"No way Grace comes back for extra year and comes off the bench"

you weren't implying that you think he has the job already? what part of the terminology am I misinterpretting?

I don't see anyone being a "guaranteed" starter even Burton.
He is a starter now and will be 7/31, but no Guarantee about 9/30, or beyond...

Oh yes, I was implying that he starts. But it was you who questioned by throwing in the word "guaranteed" in post #75. Not sure why you injected that. I'm coming from the practical standpoint of what I originally stated. I seriously doubt that he'd come back for an additional year to only come off the bench his entire career. And from 17 years of what Mooney has shown me, I strongly believe Mooney starts Grace.

And there's an obvious difference between implication & guarantee.

but by saying he wouldn't come back and come off the bench, aren't you saying you think he's been told he's not coming off the bench? maybe that's not what you meant.

No. I think you’re trying to connect points that don’t exist. I just used the term “practical” to explain why I thought he’d come back and start. It has zero to do with what he’s been told which none of us is probably privy to. Let’s go with human behavior and long term patterns as opposed to what someone was told or not.

fair enough. I personally think he decided to stay because he likes it here, likes the team and the coaches, and he feels he's in a very good position to play. I don't think he's been promised anything more than that. and I don't think starting had anything to do with his decision.

Starter or not, Matt would likely not have returned unless assured of significant playing time which believe works to his advantage developmentally and to the Spiders as a team. Win-Win.

Would be surprised if he is not a starter and surprised if he does not expect to be. Of course, he has to earn it, but has patiently paid his dues for 4 years. IMO, under Mooney's historic approach to playing time, he starts.

I don't get the "patiently paid his dues" line of thinking. do you feel earned more but was held back? he playd the 6th most minutes on the team this year. 7th most last year.

As long as we are imagining what Grace's thoughts/conversations are in this thread and others, how about these thoughts:

"The team is thrilled to welcome Isaiah Bigelow aboard. We know he will help us win games and return to meaningful postseason play. We are excited to be a part of this great university and to play for coach Mooney. Please find a different thread to argue about my minutes next year."

JOC interview with Bigelow. Says a lot of schools contacted him, but he only seriously considered us and Radford. We were one of the first to reach out to him.

If he was seriously considering Radford how good can he be?

Not saying that he can't help Richmond, but that seems to be a pretty low bar.

Eric Paschall went to Fordham before winning a national championship with Villanova, being drafted in the 2nd round, and now being 150+ games into his NBA career. Judging a player based on one offer and not on the intersection of his game, mentality, or personality just seems crazy to me

Thx u - fully agreed .. find it honestly odd for certain folks to look for any opportunity for a negative … not the way I live my life
