Home Attendance at a 23-Year High

Looks like Tarrant's record of high attendance averaging 7214 will be safe for quite some time since we now have a capacity of 7201............................Of course we can always resurrect the discussion about people being in the suites without a corresponding seat ticket.....................

we used to say "win and they win come". but then we said maybe we need the atmosphere to attract the players to win.
I was on the verge of believing it was a losing battle. people today have more alternatives and games are on tv. maybe we'd never become a hard to get ticket. but the school made major improvements to the arena and the game experience and the people are coming. no, not filling the seats all the time (thought I'd say that before someone else does). but I think there's little doubt now that if we put the right product on the floor this place will be rocking. it WILL happen during the Buckingham/Sherod/Golden years.

The key difference is that sports marketing has made a concentrated effort to reach out to the community to attract interest. I am sure they are doing this through (in some cases steeply) discounted promotions, but who gives a crap if they are coming. I know several families who have varying forms of affiliation to VCU, but they are coming to UR because of these ticket promotions and their kids are becoming UR fans. This is exactly what fans on this board have been asking for over many years. So good job dudes.

Personally, I know of fans who attend games at the Robins Center because it is both comfortable and safe. IMHO, if we start winning on a more regular basis, it will be a difficult ticket to obtain. OSC

Our arena is a gem. Staff has done a great job in getting families out to games. My 4 year old loves it and I see a whole lot of people with young kids at our games.

I'm going to send my 4yo over to hang out with your 4yo so I can actually concentrate on watching the game...

My grandkids are there for most games. The boys 8 and 6 really look forward to going, understand most of the rules and have favorite players. The two year old granddaughter not so much, but she doesn't have a choice as her mom is a huge fan.

That is truly amazing since average student attendance is + or - 15. I really mean that. Says a lot for the local fan base.
