I can't get over the devastation on the Shore that I've seen on the TV and internet. I grew up in Little Silver, went to Markham Place Elementary and RBR for HS. Looks like all my old haunting grounds are gone - most notably that old dive, Donovan's Reef. Heard that Little Silver got hit hard along the Shrewsbury River where we lived but that is nothing compared to Sea Bright and Monmouth Beach. Will they be able to re-build the beach clubs down there? What a shame.
Saw Mo's reference to Mr. Luckenbill. I actually used to take trumpet lessons from his father when I was in the 3rd/4th/5th grade...Mr. Luckenbill was the band director for the Little Silver public schools at the time. He lived over on Queens Drive if I recall. I think old man Luckenbill died everal years back, but I do recall his son (I think I had a few trumpet lessons with him when he was still an undegrad at Michigan). I gave up the trumpet by end of 5th grade, but still have memories of those days.
Wishing everybody back home on the Shore the very best, especially those living in the Two Rivers area...I haven't been back in years, but would like to visit with my family by Spring if possible.
