How good is Gordon Collins?

He ran away from Quin Blanding #3 on his 54 yd TD run. See the following on the Hoo's Free Safety-

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia free safety Quin Blanding was named to the preseason All-Atlantic Coast Conference team, announced the league on Wednesday. The team was selected by a vote of credentialed media members at last week’s ACC Football Kickoff in Charlotte.

Blanding has previously been named this summer to the 2016 Bednarik, Nagurski, Jim Thorpe and Lott IMPACT Trophy Watch List. This is the second year in a row that Blanding has been named to the preseason All-ACC team.

Blanding (Jr., Virginia Beach, Va.), a second-team All-American and first-team All-ACC honoree last year, returns for his junior season in 2016. Blanding started all 12 games and finished the year No. 2 in the ACC with 9.58 tackles per game.

Tim's 40 time may not have shown it, but he seemed to always separate downfield. Not sure how you measure that, if other than the eye test.

Our backs all have great physical tools. Collins is definitely has the best total package of speed and power at this point.

Agree with jpo. Collins is big and fast and the young guys are going to be very good. At least after one game, the position we were all worried about looks to be pretty deep.

My favorite play of many was Gordon jetting past Blanding for a TD. Blanding thought he had an angle on him only to get left grasping for air and eating dirt!

Another Collins run that comes to mind was kickoff against ISU to get us great field position
and essentially seal the win.

I am so happy that he is a Spider!! the young man is going to be very sucessful on the field at RS and after.

Doesn't look good. He hasn't moved from bench. They have his right knee iced

Rocco said as much in his presser as well. Really tough break for team and Gordon personally.

If out rest of the year, would have to assume he can use the medical redshirt as he didn't redshirt already. Depending on exact nature, hopefully it's one he can fully recover from. Wishing the best for this kid.

Article this morning in RTD says medical redshirt will be used. This stinks for Gordon, but I feel like the other guys at RB will step and fill the void with little drop off.

GC - Since your freshman year, I have always looked forward to the energy and enthusiasm of your play on the field. I know that will now be applied to your recovery! Best of luck!

Feel horrible for Gordon. Love to see that he's taking it in stride and looks to be using it as motivation, of course would have rather seen him kicking @$$ on the field this year tho. All the best to him

Thanks for that link SF. His response to his injury is awesome and with God's help he will be back..............like the way he voices his support and confidence in his teammates.

I'm glad he has the redshirt available. I really enjoyed watching this young man play.

You could tell how upset Kyle was when he went down.

If he had to get injured, I'm just glad it happened early in the season, so he can get the year back; as well as develop some of the younger kids.
