Below is some information for our A-10 opener against George Mason

Opponent: George Mason (8-5) --> Preseason 6th in A-10

The Patriots fizzled out after an 11–7 (4–1 A-10) start, going just 3–9 in February and March in Kim English’s first season as head coach. But Mason wasn’t far away from having quite the first year under English: That 3–9 finish featured 10 games decided by seven points or less and four overtime affairs. English’s team has the pieces to get over the hump this season and compete for a postseason bid, bringing back the outstanding duo of skilled big Josh Oduro and do-it-all forward Davonte “Ticket” Gaines and adding some top talent. Tennessee transfer Victor Bailey Jr. has scored everywhere he has been, touted freshman wing Justyn Fernandez has a game-ready body and Virginia Tech transfer Ginika Ojiako gives George Mason the interior enforcer it lacked a year ago. If Saquan Singleton can solidify the point guard spot, this team could compete for a top-four finish.

Mason is going to be a tough team to beat in conference this year, though they don't have a true star. Bailey is strong, particularly from 3, but he struggles inside the arc. Particularly, this team is weak at the line, especially their big man, Oduro. I think restricting them to shooting inside the arc will do well for us, as they are going to be tough

English’s strategy is to shoot threes or take dunks/layups. There are no two-point shots, unless by accident or maybe the end of a shot clock. It’s a new type of analytics philosophy that he and some others run, and it may not be the worst idea in the world. Of course, it presumes that you can make enough threes and get enough rebounds and out backs to make it effective.

Tomorrow I expect a loss, because Mooney. Mason 78, UR 66.

It appears the best philosophy would be to go 13-deep today and just send them to the FT line constantly. That’s an embarrassingly awfully FT percentage they have. We’d be wise to take advantage of it.

We really could have used Sal today

Yes, we will by fouling Bailey & Cooper…

Excited to start A-10 player. Let’s do this!

Richmond - 76
GooMoo - 64

Mason is just an annoying team to play because you can be outplaying them but then look up and it’s tied or you’re losing.

Somebody finally told Feinstein he kept getting Grace/Citadel bit wrong...lol.

Edit: But he's still confused..."Wherever he played before, he's 1-for-7 from three."
