Yep that's Dji, I just know from twitter, but don't know details.
who's that with the cast? Dji?
Agree, between these rapid tests and the vaccine progress (Moderna and Pfizer both reported 50% enrollment) it does seem like there is opportunity to really see some improvement. I think we are failing as a country in general on the mask/social distancing aspect, so I feel the hope has to come from the testing/therapy/vaccine front.Abbott Labs got approval today for its 5-minute COVID test that will cost $5, and the feds ordered 150 million initially. Could be the kind of game-changer that we need just in time to save the season...
Well that's the whole point of rapid tests. Test the whole team every day. If one guy tests positive and the rest test negative, you isolate him and the rest keep going. You either have it or you don't, and the test will tell you right away. You still need a bubble though - even with rapid test. All the rapid test allows is you to test more frequently and get instant results. But you still need to bubble them and isolate them because if one of our kids get the virus - its an automatic 14 day quarantine. And chances are if one gets it - you might have others - so how do you handle 2-3 kids getting and having to sit out 2 weeks - do you reschedule games? Or play on with a short roster?
The NBA has worked because they have not had to deal with this problem in the bubble. But the MLB has not succeeded because they have had to cancel and reschedule games. And this could be worse for the NFL. Unfortunately - I just don't think NCAA schools have the resources or money to constantly reschedule and change games.
As far as vaccine - progress looks promising. But even if it is ready by November - 1) First people to get it will likely be front line workers, not college student-athletes. 2) Even if college athletes could receive the first round of vaccine - would they really want to? I think this is one time you don't want to be first in line.
I don't believe that's the case. I can catch Covid today and not test positive for quite a while.Well that's the whole point of rapid tests. Test the whole team every day. Not sure about "quite awhile." If you aren't testing positive, it's because you have almost none of the virus in you.I don't believe that's the case. I can catch Covid today and not test positive for quite a while.
Definitely looks like mini-tournaments / pool play after Thanksgiving are a very good possibility. Just have to figure out the exam schedule. Too bad UR didn’t start a week or so earlier so semester ended Thanksgiving week like some other schools did.
Do we already know whether we’ll still have the Kentucky game or not?So the D-I council announced today that the start of games will be 11/25, and there will be a max of 27 games scheduled, including an exempt event. Everybody will have to adjust their schedules some, so we’ll see what games get dropped. Oh, and the recruiting dead period has been extended through Jan 1.

I’d imagine the teams will be trying to keep that exempt event together for the two bonus games it allows you. But there’s going to be a lot of shuffling, so not much is certain at this point I’m sure.Do we already know whether we’ll still have the Kentucky game or not?
I'd expect this to lead to a flurry of commitments....Oh, and the recruiting dead period has been extended through Jan 1.
The featured nonconference game on Richmond’s original schedule was at Kentucky on Nov. 23.
“Our top priority is to find a new date and a new place for that on the calendar. That’s number one,” said Jenkins.
Might I suggest Nov. 25 at the Robins Center?Jenkins says keeping that Kentucky game is priority one, and Spiders are looking to keep the "meat" of the schedule in place. Not committed to any pod locations at this point.
